I'm interested in hearing from anyone currently using (or like myself considering using) 10w 40 high-mileage motor oil in an early 1940s era Cadillac. I've read various articles on the pros and cons of using synthetic/part synthetic oils in older engines, and it seems to me to all boil down to simply a "matter-of-choice," for the most part. Any thoughts?
I'm looking for a Cadillac Series 60, 62, or 75 4-door sedan from the 1930 - 1950 era. The vehicle should be in good mechanical condition, but may be in need of some cosmetic freshening up. Year: 1941 Make: Cadillac Model: Series 62 Price: Best Offer over $10k Description: paint is new - diamond pearl; everything has been rechromed except the rear bumper; the engine ran fine last time it was started, which was about 2 years ago. All of the interior parts are out of it and in storage, seats, door panels, headliner and carpet all need to be re-done. The car has been stored inside, under a dust cover. Engine: Flathead V8, Hydramatic Transmission. I had it appraised last March - $15k, as is. See attached. I would welcome feedback from the community. Price too high? Undesirable model? Would this car be more/less interesting if it was finished? I'm kind of at a loss as to how to sell a car like this. Any info you'd care to pass along would be appreciated. Thanks! 1940 Cadillac convertible. Has AACA Hershey Senior Award from mid 1980s. Complete mechanical restoration by FEN. Alternator, updated Autolite carburetor, 2 batteries wired in series making the car a reliable driver. New clutch & re-cored radiator installed; the car has been driven only 1,000 miles since complete mechanical rehabilitation including engine rebuild and running gear rehab. All original parts go with the car for restoration to show condition if desired. Dark green with tan interior and new radial wide whitewalls make this a real head turner.
