  1. My radio doesn't work and I need to replace it. What aftermarket radios would fit and what modifications would have to be made to install? Thanks
  2. Forgive me if this is a redundant question, but I was hoping for some clarification... I'm bypassing the audio set-up in my 89 and installing a completely separate system. I'm currently working on wiring the head-unit, but am unsure of which wires to use. I believe I see three different harnesses connected to the module ( one blue, one white, and one black - each with there own set of wires). Basically, I'm looking for help on which are the correct wires to connect to my aftermarket receiver. I'm running patch cables to the amps, so really I'd like input on the power ignition wire, power battery wire, and ground. I see the pin # configurations on the module, but was still unclear. I'd like for the new system to power on when the car starts, and was afraid that if I used a wire from the wrong auxilary without knowing, I might have to hit play on the CRT everytime I want it to work. Thanks in advance, Justin
  3. For anyone who has done any wiring through the firewall, I was wondering where the best spot was? I'm hooking up 2 amps in the trunk and wanted to see if anyone has found an available slot or if you had to drill one, where you decided to put it. Thanks
  4. Since my factory speakers are at the end of their life, I'm on a mission to upgrade the entire audio system in my Reatta. I've purchased new front & rear speakers, and I have a sub-box from a Yukon that was given away via Cash 4 Clunkers (the box can really kick, and I've already got the amps as well). My plan is to throw it in the trunk and remove the "trunk/car access door" and replace it with a wooden frame and the same lining that is already covering the rear speaker grills. I'm pretty excited about the new sound, however, I am looking for some advice for the gurus... Best case scenerio, I'd love to upgrade the source to really take advantage of the audio quality. My Reatta is an 89, so I really want to avoid messing with the dash electronics as much as possible... does anyone have any ideas/ reccomendations/ warnings??? One idea was to see if it was possible to leave all of the climate/diagnostics/etc attached to the CRT screen and have a seperate external/iPod source for audio off of the touch screen. If not, maybe finding a way to mount an aftermarket head unit in addition to the CRT screen. The main objective here is the best quality sound and taking advantage of the equipment I already own. If any help /guidance/ fore-warnings can be given, I'd be grateful. Thanks in advance Justin
  5. Sorry if this has been answered a dozen times before, but I plan on going to a speaker closeout sale today and wanted to make sure I understood the speaker set-up for an 89 since I haven't had the chance to take off the panels and check out what's under the grills for myself.... From what I understand, there at 5.25's up front on the doors, but wanted to make sure I'm understanding the back correct. Are the rear's 6.5 components? And the fronts are 4 ohms while the rears are 7, correct? But can the rears handle 4 in addition to 4's up front? Are there anything I should be aware of when picking out replacements? Or even, does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance, Justin
