Happy MLK, The ventilation motor died in my '88 so I replaced it Saturday with an NOS Delco. Installation into that tight spot went well. However, upon moving the big wrapped wiring harness between the engine and the firewall out of the way, the thin plastic vacuum tubing for the HVAC system broke, and I cannot find the other end that I need to reconnect it to! The end from the splitter just aft of the check valve is visible, but where it broke off from is not, at least with my poor eyesight. I suspect like in my Camaros that this vacuum tubing is enclosed in the big wire harness for protection, and that the other end has receded into the harness. Before I slice that harness to fish it out, I just want to make sure i am not looking in the wrong area for the tubing that runs thru the firewall to control the vent settings. Cruise is hooked up so it is not that, and my HVAC only runs with both the heater and defrost working in default. At least it is warm in the car! Thanks for any advice as usual, Mike
1-29-14 I am writing an illustrated history of the evolution of factory air conditioning and am currently seeking 1953-1960 Oldsmobile press releases, owner's manuals, fact book information and other pertinent ephemera which includes the initial road testing, introduction and updating of the air conditioning systems. With this exercise, the legacy of the air conditioning literature will be utilized and recorded. In a much larger context, I have collected multi-make AC literature and am in the process of writing about AC evolution through illustrations not only of Oldsmobile, but of all car makes, 1953-1960, plus the 1940-1942 time period. I will appreciate your response and I will ensure that your contributions will be credited in the publication. Thank you, Archiveman2977 Allen B. Simons
Guest posted a topic in Chrysler Automobiles and Parts - Buy/SellI need the headlight ring fittings for a 1955 chrysler windsor deluxe and also the air regulator. I'm not sure if it is called the air regulator or what, if someone could tell me exactly what I'm looking for that would be great. I have a manual choke on it right now and was also wondering how I could fix that and if the air regulator (?) Would fix that. As for the rings, I have the entire headlight assembly with the exception of the rings that hold the headlights in place. If anybody is selling those I'd be happy to buy for the right price.
