  4. Hi, my name is Dylan and that car listed in the title and pictured in my profile pic has been my dream resto car for quite some time...and searching for them is really tough because there are not that many around from what I have seen (and not that many were made to begin with). I have done much extensive research on the 1967 Mercury Cyclone GT, enough to know that the GT came standard with a 390 and had the option to be built with a factory installed R-code 427 (however only 19 R-code 427's were installed in the Cyclone in 1967...and much more that I could talk your ear off about. I am looking for a running, hard-top, at least mostly original, preferrably 4-speed Cyclone GT that doesn't need much work to be put back to its shine again. Please let me know if you or someone you know has one for sale in or in any of the surrounding states of California (because thats where I currently live). If you do respond, please try to include some attached pics and details about the car. Thanks!
  5. Hey guys. New to this forum. Thought I'd stop in and share as well as ask a few questions. I reciently aquired a 1964 Mercury Parklane "Breezeway" 25th anniversary. It's in pretty good overall shape. cosmetically I'd say its a strong 7 out of 10 if not an 8. 99% complete, only missing the hood orniment and rear fender "parklane" emblems. interior is super clean exept for some tearing in the front appolstry but everything else is mint. Original dash and all gauges working properly (except for the anolog clock and i dont think many of those even worked back in the 60's haha). Car even came with the original black and yellow California plates, lighter plugin service light from ford in the original dealer packaging from 1964 and owners manual with a ledger of all schedualed maintanence dating 1964-1967 (nice piece of the cars history that I'm happy to have). The rear windshield still motors up and down perfectly and silently ( I love that!) On to the mechanical side of things. The 390 thats in it is in good shape as well as the automatic trans. I checked all fluids and they look good. Issues I'm having and keep in mind that this is a very new vehicle to me (less then 24 hrs), are a carb issue, brakes and power steering. the power steering is simple enough the pump is going out and ill do a quick swap out on that. the brake issue is that when you press on the brake its super hard to a point of about half way in, then it "gives" loosening up. at that point the brake finally catches. Previous owner said that the booster and master cylinder were replaced 2 years ago and the brakes were bled, but who knows if any of this was done properly. upon poking around under the hood I discovered that the vacume hose going into the booster is mising the threaded adapter that creates a proper seal for the booster to do its job. Anybody with brake experiance out there that can confirm this theory? Anyway the brakes need to be completely gone over before I feel safe having my wife and daughter in the car at the moment. Next is what i hope is another quick fix. She fires up fine, a little slow this morning when it was cold but nothing bad. I havent had her die while in idle either. But when you accelerate if you gas it too fast she wants to stall, so I have to back off and give it a little mini pump of the gas then its fine. its every time you go to accelerate from a stand still. I'm sure it needs a good cleaning if not a complete rebuild of the carb. some more info, Its originally a 4 barrel carb but the previous owner installed a kit reducing it to 2 for better milage. would this have any factor in it? maybe not enough air flow? any suggestions on what to look into first? Well sorry for my long winded rant, can you tell I'm excited about my new project? I'll upload some photos soon so I can let you check her out. Thanks in advance for any help or insite.
  6. Hey All, I just joined the forum and I'm excited to dive into my Mercury Comet project. Picked it up in November from my mother-in-law. My father-in-law passed away a short time ago and this was his restoration project. I was fortunate enough to be asked if i was interested in the car and I jumped on it. I've been thinking about getting a car to restore when my kids are done with college (one just finished and the other is a Junior) so the timing is about right. I'm hoping to make many friends here and learn a little at the same time. Here's a picture of "Ruby" (named by my father-in-law), my 62 Comet. More are at my web site linked below. 13. Just too many cars and this Meteor deserves better than to be ignored. NO RUST!!!! Car was originally white but has a mediocre red paint job. Good looking 10 footer. New tires, later 289 heads with screw in studs installed, new fuel pump, and Pertronix ignition. I believe the previous owner had the engine rebuilt. No smoke or noises and it's super clean inside. The trans might have been done also as both have 'rebuilder' paint jobs. Trans shifts great, high firm brakes, and a strong battery and charging system. Minor stuff...leaking heater hose fitting at the intake, carb needs to be tanked and cleaned. Interior is presentable but it needs a carpet and the windshield sealed because it leaks. I've got some extra stainless, a complete power steering set up, beautiful 4 barrel intake, an extra 2 barrel carb and some new window and door whiskers. Reducing price to $2900. I may consider a full or partial trade...has to be arunning driving something of some value. I'm in the car business so I have an idea of what things are worth, just sayin'
  14. This is a clean and well-maintained Grand Marquis GS with 118K miles. Gray, with a light gray interior. Landau roof in good condition. Interior is velour with driver 6-way seat. Full-sized spare plus a doughnut spare. Steel-belted radials with good treads. No rust or damage. Roof and trunk need paint. This car has the original engine, the Ford 302 fuel-injected SFI engine. It starts right up, and the car drives smoothly. Transmission replaced with a Jasper professional transmission 5 years ago. Full repair history available since 1994. $2,200.00 obo, contact jaxops1@verizon.net (Va. Beach, VA).
  15. '54 Desoto Firedome Coupe. Great car to restore or make into street rod. Original 217 V8 Hemi was running (on 6 cyclinders:)!when parked two years ago. This model came with a merc grill which is in great shape. Car is ready for someone to finish the project. I just don't have the time. I have been informed that the miles are orginal, but cannot confirm this thru a reliable source.
  16. Should the cars built by Coachcraft in Hollywood be considered for CLASSIC status? They are one off cars built to the owner's specifications pre-1948 by craftsmen who left Dutch Darrin to start Coachcraft in 1939... What do you think?
