A friend of my grandfather has been telling us for years that GM car's from the early to mid-1930s had chassis made of wood and then were boxed in by metal? But my grandfather has also heard that 1920s GM cars were the same way. My question is, is there any truth to this? Thanks in advance. Vintagecarguy. -
Hello, I am new to this forum and really quite new to the classic car world but I've been looking at a 1939 Chevy 4 door sedan with 60-61 thousand miles on it. It's had 3 owners total and almost all the parts on it are original including the tires. The engine itself will crank but it needs to be re-timed. The interior is in great shape. Some rust from age and the outside does have quite a few smaller rust spots as well. There are some minor dents to the body but no considerable damage. As of two years ago it was street drive-able but the owner is older and hasn't had it our of the garage since then. I dug around online for how much I should about buying it for but did not have a lot of luck. Is there anyone here who could give me a rough ballpark range I should about purchasing this for? I do have some pictures but I need to resize them down a bit and remove plate information before uploading them. Thanks for your time, -Steve

Hi! There is a blue 1957 Chevy for sale near me, and I am looking at buying to for my first vehicle! So, what I would like to know is if it would be right for me. •I live in Canada, so we can get quite a bit of snow. How would it handle in the winter? With winter tires of course. •How would it be on gas? •It has 100 thousand kilometres on it, is that ok for an old car? •Would the radio still work? •how different is driving an older car compared to a new one? •Random question, what's your favourite color for a 57 Chevy? The car it's self is $5800 OBO, it runs and stops. Has new tires, brakes, a battery, carb and ignition. I am 16 if that matters here is a picture of it.

I just bought a 1941 Chevrolet Business Coupe. It is all stock and has been sitting for several months. I got it running okay, but when I try to put it in gear, it seems that the clutch is not working right. When I push in on the clutch and try to shift in a gear, it acts as though the clutch had not been depressed. I checked the inspection hole to see the pressure plate and thrust bearing and they seem to be operating as normal. Any ideas what to do next? Many thanks to those who answer. I have a 1970 C10 Longbed Fleetside pickup truck that used to belong to my grandfather. I need to sell it because I need some cash and I am trying to determine how much it is worth. I have done some searches online and found prices from $8,000 to $50,000. This truck needs a lot of work so I know I am on the very low end but I do want to get as much as I can for it without being unrealistic in my expectations. I used to drive it once or twice a month but about 2 years ago I just parked it and I have not driven it since. It ran fine the last time I did drive it. It has a straight 6 engine with three speed shifter in the steering column. There is also significant rust in the body which would have to be repaired to get it into great shape. Everything on the truck is actually original equipment, including the drum brakes all around. (not sure if that is good or not). Considering the fact that I have not run it in almost 2 years, I am sure that the gas in the tank is bad and who knows how much work would be needed on the engine to get it in top running condition. Based on all of this, can someone give me a ballpark on what you think I should use as a staring point when setting an asking price? Thanks Frank

hey everyone i am planning on restoring some classic vehicles. Right now im looking at a 1939 dodge sedan and a 1957 chevy bel air. there are times where I think i was born in the wrong era haha. I'm not looking at making them rat rods just going all original as I can. I have never done anything like this before so any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated! I'm going to see them again today and take some pictures and tryu and post them up. thanks!

Hi can anyone please help me identify this chrome handle? Stamped inside opening on back side are the letters 2R. It is GM part 1#3757726. I assume it is a vent window handle but dont know. Can anyone tell me which car this lighter is from? I've heard it's from before the 50's, maybe a Chevy car and the knob may be Bakelite. And it could be a cat's eye lighter. Does anyone know what it is made out of? Pictures can be found at this link: Flickr: beccaaax345's Photostream
