Hi I have a 1941 Buick Special 8. It has a 248 inline 8. I just got my radiator back and have been trying to get the car running. We were trying to figure out the timing but I don't understand how to do this with out the "degree scale" on later cars (excuse my lack of proper terminology). There is a mark or indentation on the flywheel but nothing to measure it against. As well I have been unable to find what the timing should be set to. All I can seam to find is "BTDC or as marked) I'm not fully sure I understand this. What mark are they referring to and what does it line up with? The last thing we were having trouble was the dwell. I found something that I think was saying between 21 an 30. I not fully confident it that value though. Thanks for all your help guys Ed ** I have moved this post to the prewar section and can't figure out how to delete this if you are interested here is the link ** http://forums.aaca.org/f165/1941-tming-adjustments-265449.html#post668157 sorry for any confusion
SOLD! Year: 1989 Make: Buick Model: Reatta Price: $3,000.00 OBO Description: 1989 Buick Reatta that is running and driveable. It has red exterior color with tan interior. It has leather interior and I put tan furry seat covers on the drivers seat and passenger seat to cut down on the wear and tear on the seats. The drivers seat cover is in ripped at the seam and would need to be replaced or you could just use the one from the passenger seat. It has an electric sunroof, but it never has worked...the motor still works for this and it may need another cable for it (A Mazda RX7 cable is the only inter-changable cable that will work on this car)...The passenger window only goes down 1/4th of the way, and needs to be adjusted or may be alittle off track. The AC isn't working and may need charging...not sure, as I haven't had it checked...but it says that refrigerant is low on the led screen. It needs a new trunk latch...but the trunk will stay down, so we never worried with it. The hydraulics that hold the hood up don't work....we always just propped it up with something. I replaced the brakes in 2004....I also replaced the electric antenna....and the trim inside the car from black to wood-grain...wasn't able to do all of it completely, as I couldn't locate all of it at the time. I also have an extra computer module that goes in the trunk for this car....was told that it needed replacing by a dealership and then found out that it actually didn't need this part yet...so I have the extra one that will be included. This car is a very classy looking car and unique, one of a kind car...as there were only so many made. It is in great condition inside and out, but does need some minor TLC to bring it up to mint condition. It currently has 125K miles on it and that is original miles. It has some minor dings on the exterior, but nothing major. It is a great and sporty-looking car. It is an automatic and has the touch-screen dash that does work.
