  6. *SOLD* Well, it's Friday and that means new arrivals. This week it's a tidy little 1950 Plymouth 2-door sedan which shows what I believe to be just 59,000 or so original miles. This is actually the second one of these that I've had in the past few years, both the same color. The last one sold for about $12,000 and wasn't nearly this nice, and if you want a fun, reliable, easy-to-drive, and handsome entry-level hobby car, I would heartily recommend this one. I've learned that these post-war Mopars are some of the best-driving cars of the period, regardless of price, and the over-achieving six-cylinder engine is every bit a match for a comparable V8 Ford. At any rate, this one has recent paint and interior, but I don't think it's ever been apart. The paint is a pretty correct rendition of Kitchner Green, which appears to be this car's original color. No metallics or other changes, just a clean, shiny finish that looks great. I see no evidence of shoddy bodywork or rust and everything fits together pretty well. A majority of the trim is stainless, so it's in great shape and will be easy to polish, so no massive bill at the plating shop sometime down the road. I think the glass is original, as is much of the weather-stripping, and if there's one demerit, it's in the rubber department. It's not bad, but some pieces look pretty old. It has accessory headlight covers, which I don't particularly care for but I know it's a period look, as well as a set of green "breezies" on the vent windows. It looks pretty tidy, don't you think? The interior was probably done when it was painted, and it uses correct striped broadcloth for a factory look. The door panels are also newer, while it looks like the rubber floor mat and headliner are good original pieces. The woodgrained dash is in excellent shape and all the gray-faced gauges are sharp and functional except maybe the gas gauge, but I haven't filled the tank so maybe it's working. There's a bit of wear on the driver's windowsill where you'd rest your arm, but that shouldn't be a surprise. All the windows crank up and down easily, the heater and defroster work properly, and it's just nice to be behind the wheel. It's a stripped-down model, so there's no radio, but I bet it would be broken if there were one there anyway. The trunk is original and has a rubber mat plus an ancient spare tire with jack assembly, but no rust or issues hiding underneath. Plymouth's robust 217 cubic inch flathead six makes modest numbers but this little coupe zips around with gusto. The engine has probably never been out of the car and I see signs of regular maintenance in the hard-to-photograph engine bay. It's not detailed and it's plenty crusty, but if you know these cars, you know this engine will run practically forever. It doesn't smoke or make unpleasant noises and it always starts quickly and idles smoothly, even when it's cold, so someone spent the time to tune it properly. The three-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly, although there's some clutch chatter if you don't do it right at take-off. Steering is typical of the era, especially with bias-ply tires which are old but still servicable. It's a bit dirty underneath, but again, I don't see any signs of trouble and it feels buttoned-down going down the road. The brakes are a little soft, and I might try bleeding them to get them to come back, but they do stop the car quite well. Entry level fun doesn't have to be boring. The more I drive this car, the more I can appreciate it and I'm sure that someone looking to get a start but who doesn't want a '70s leftover will have a blast with it. We're only asking $15,900 and it's ready to enjoy today. Thanks for looking!

Wow, I thought the last Boss I had was spectacular, but this one not only looks awesome but is incredibly well documented, a former national show winner, and comes with just about every single OEM part ever removed. Now I know muscle cars aren't up everyone's alley, but there aren't many who would argue that this isn't a great-looking Mustang. And if you're familiar with the Boss 302, you also know that it's probably the best-driving Mustang ever built. This fastback loves to dance! The restoration was finished in the 1990s, and subsequent to that, it went on to score 689 out of 700 points in MCA judged competition. Since then, it's probably been driven a few thousand miles, but it's still pretty sharp and crisp and you could put it back on the show field with a minimum of effort and likely collect a 2nd place at a national meet. It's that nice. According to the Marti Report, it's one of only 212 Medium Red/black interior Boss 302s built, which is puzzling because you'd think a bright red Mustang would be a smash hit with the public. Anyway, it appears to be wearing all its original sheetmetal and the original VIN stamps are still in the front fenders, so it hasn't been clipped. The Medium Red paint is exactly the right color, not too bright but not burgundy, either, and the Boss 302 stripes are placed exactly right, with those on the sides being correct reflective tape. It's worth noting that this Boss came equipped from the factory with the Shaker hood, rear window slats, and rear spoiler--I know this because I have the original window sticker AND the build sheet. If there's a demerit on this car, it's that the left front edge of the hood isn't quite perfectly aligned with the fender, but that's a pretty darned small nit to pick. The black interior is mostly original, which is shocking to me. The seats, headliner, and door panels are vintage 1970 pieces, with newer carpets installed during the restoration. Everything is in excellent condition and I see no need to replace any of it. The gauges are also original, and their faces are a little faded, but that's easy to fix--you're going to have to pull them out anyway because the speedometer and odometer do not work. The steering wheel is correct, it's got the right Hurst T-handle shifter for the 4-speed, and the factory AM radio is still in place, but has an FM converter inside, so it looks authentic but you don't have to suffer through whatever they're playing on AM radio these days. The only obvious alteration to the interior is a set of speakers on the rear package shelf. The trunk is also correctly outfitted with a plaid mat and space-saver spare with jack assembly. The engine is the original, numbers-matching 302 cubic inch V8 that was installed in 1970. It's fully rebuilt and has fresh internals, with the original parts (including the crank) included with the sale. Details like the smog system and rev limiter are still in place, although they're both disconnected for obvious reasons (the smog pump turns freely but there's no belt on it). The engine is very highly detailed with correct markings and decals and authentic parts were used wherever possible--no repro stuff here. It starts easily, idles beautifully, and pulls like a freight train. It's a joy to drive and there's a spectacular soundtrack all the way up to 7000 RPM (not that I've gone there, but it's pretty amazing at, say, 5000 RPM). Long-tube headers were added, but the original cast iron manifolds are included, and there's an X-pipe with Flowmaster mufflers, but again, the original exhaust system is included with the car. The underside has a light dusting of undercoating, but there are zero signs of rust or repairs underneath and it's nice to see power steering, which really should have been standard equipment. It's got the optional 3.91 Track-Lok rear end, so it's not a car I'd drive cross-country, but around town this thing is a weapon and you'll never get tired of dropping a gear and mashing the throttle just to hear it sing. Ride quality is rather good and it sits on correct Magnum 500 wheels and attractive BFG tires. As I said, documentation is extensive: build sheet, original window sticker (signed by the legendary Larry Shinoda), original owner's manual, restoration receipts, photos of Larry Shinoda signing the hood and window sticker, a deluxe framed Marti Report, the original MSO and title, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It also comes with a giant cache of spare parts, including the aforementioned engine bits such as the manifolds, valves, exhaust system, springs, front brake rotors, crankshaft, original date-coded glass, shock absorbers, etc., etc., etc. This is the nicest Boss I've ever seen, it's incredibly well documented, and if you want perfection, the parts are here to make it a national contender once again. We're asking $79,900, which many will agree is the right price for a Boss with a pedigree, and the red paint is easy to love. I'm going to have a hard time watching this one go, but someone will get one hell of a car. Thanks for looking!
  14. Hi Installed rear fenders on my 31 Ply PA the other day. "Right" one first and then the left. They look identical at a distance until mounting. The left fender I have has a tighter radius than the car. Could maybe be made to fit with some cutting and pasting. More skill needed than I have. I believe the left fender I have is for a coupe. So for sale a 31 Ply coup fender - appears to have never been mounted before. Need a decent 31 Ply left rear fender for a 4 dr sedan. See pictures

However on attempting to mount the left fender I found the bolt hole patter is wider and the curvature is greater. From some earlier discussion I believe this is a coupe finder. It is for sale as it would take more effort and greater skill than I have to make it fit. Pics attached. Included the "right" fender which lists what it does fit. Not sure if it is accurate.

I can check this for condition and help with transport. 1930 Dodge Brothers Straight 8 Rumble Seat Coupe DC 8 - Restored - $35000 (petaluma)http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/5141127977.html This is a 1930 DC-8 Dodge Brothers rumble seat coupe. This car has the stock Dodge Brothers 221 cubic-inch straight 8-cylinder engine offering 75 horsepower. Only a limited number of these 8-cylinder cars were built from 1930 to 1933. Car had a frame off restoration that was completed during the middle of 2012. According to the build card from Chrysler Research Center, color and paint scheme are same as original for this car which was shipped to Santa Maria, CA when new. Car runs and drives very nice. 3 speed transmission, stock 4 wheel hydraulic brakes, has electrical system updated to 12 volt, I have also added aftermarket gauges. All original gauges appear to function but I have not been confident of their reliability. This car was restored Amil Gehrke who has been featured in various national news articles and has done a number of restoration of Dodge Brothers car.
