  1. Been looking for a good Convert and there are like 8 for sale right now: a few beaters, one very nice but high priced, and a few decent ones.

Is there a most preferred  sought after year? Any desire able options?

Reading the brochures I see only a red or later dark red interiors on later models .  But rtecently discovered 2 odd interiors. One 83 has white contrasting piping on the normal red interior? Looks nice and original..then I found an 84 with the pleated inserts in all white with red bolsters, it too looks original ..and has a maroon convert top!

The brochures dont mention anything but solid red trim. so can anyone tell me more about these two? Or maybe a dealer ordering book tells more about this if someone has one?

Curious to learn more.. I also saw a photo of a white with black interior and top.. but that might be a preproduction mock up..

  2. I report them to FBI cyber division first then try to get more info to get them arrested. There was a guy pedaling a 56 Imperial Limo i asked for copy of title he sends an altered one showing a 55 which tge photos showed a 55 .asking $4,800 with free shipping! Dah.. Had a woman from Texas who had 2 Imperials her father left her but she had years and models wrong.. oh and the very nice 67 Eldo for $1800.

Could there be better vetting and ways those posting or answering need to prove who they are?

  3. Of course Im not foolish enough to do anything with this guy or imaginary car deal.. though Im trying to find the owner so he knows his photos are being used as bait..I have taken the " other" steps necessary too to  put him on the radar.

My point was more to show how much of this is around and question what can we do on our sites to protect us?? Im guessing verifying who u are for real if posting or answering .. maybe to use site period?

Are these guys on crack to think someone would believe this tall tale?

  4. Was recently offered an interesting very rare car. First I was offered another model but felt the price way high and totally wrong fabric inside, n it was restored.. not my kind of a car. Anyway then I was offered a more rare car in nice shape for 1/4 the price, n delivered! Any red flags?? Okay, first he said car was in Texas. Now he says Pa. He wants it paid then ship to me free?? Really? Love to catch this guy who's praying on collectors.. I doubt strongly this is real..Feedback?

  6. Thanks guys.. Went to see a 63 this weekend. The beveled edge styling seems to have started mostly in 63 as we see with back window styling and tail of quarters.. Plus the famous look of the Riviera roofline, a beautiful timeless design ..Caddy worked that style cue for many years . The best example to me is the 67 Eldo, which I like more all the time.

Getting back to the '61 versus 63.. Don't get me wrong I like '63  very much, but what strikes me more and more with styling is the proportion of the overhangs either in front of front wheel ( 77-79 Mark V comes to mind, I sold mine cause I couldnt get past that front overhang ) or after rear wheels , which I feel the 63 is guilty of after seeing it again in person. So it bothers my sense of esthetics mostly in the 6 window format, but not so much in other body styles.

The '61 however seems to have a better proportion there in quarters , and yes.. a quirky cool dash and distinctive overall exterior look. Even more of an old world touch to me is the front and rear armrests, and grip handles on back of front seat seems a bit more gracious to me. So my vote became '61..

Anyone else bothered by proportions in styling
