  1. hmmmm, that last picture you posted John may help me too! I had an extra piece that looked like part of windshield, but couldn't figure it out....I'll have to check in the garage, but I think it's that inverted "lip" piece that your windshield screws too.
  2. Thanks John for interior shots....and thanks Spinneyhill for the shot of that split rivit tool...never have seen one before.
  3. John, by the way could I get a photo of your '31 on the upper A pillar where windshield and door meet?...just if you get a chance.....trying to figure out how all that stuff meets there for my DA.
  4. Does anyone have a close-up photo of '29 DA hood lacing at the radiator? I don't know what attaches it to the radiator shell and any photos I have aren't close enough......screws? rivits? Thanks!
  5. Todd, thanks for the photos! Sounds great you about ready to finish! I've spent 10 years on mine. On the photos, yes, that is the little angled part at the back seat I was talking about. I assumed that was carpeted (like face of rear seat and back of front seat), but I'll look and see how it may have been uphostered as my wheel well was too. I've got photos of B & C pillars from another DBer, and I understand about the "slat", but I wanted to see a closeup of how the upolstered "slat", the windlace, door and windshield headers came together.....just a tiny area with so much going on. Your photo showing steering wheel is pretty good as it shows up a little at top of photo...didn't know if you had a closer shot. Thanks a lot!
  6. Okay, I've found a photo of windshield header height vs. windshield, but does anyone have a close-up photo of upper windshield corners where it meets sides? Also, I've got a photo of rear carpet, but not where carpet is over that angled rise at sides of car at ends of back seat....anyone have a photo of that too? Thanks!
  7. I wondered if anyone had a photo of a DA wood windshield header. I think it should be above the windshield hinge and above the curved corners, but not sure.....I'm also trying to allow for upholstery to turn under that header, so not sure of thickness of mohair upholstery vs. wood. I know it may sound minimal, but trying to do it right and not interfere w/ windshield or wiper motor.... any photos or directions much appreciated!
  8. Or as my old boss used to say "There is truth and then there's marketing"
  9. Thanks for the replies.....it sounds like I just bypass the ammeter and just create another new circuit w/ bus bar / fuses to accessories...just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly....thanks
  10. Not sure if I'm asking the correct question or have the correct terms here. I have a '29 Dodge DA 6 w/ a 6v system. In its past it had an electic lighter and turn signals added which were never a problem for the system. I am currently rewiring the car and have come to the acessories. Besides the lighter and turn signals I've added a heater, small fan, spotlight and making the wiper motor electric.....these are all 6v. I wondered if the system could handle all that, but it wouldn't be used all at one time. I also had wondered if I needed a second battery that I could recharge seperately, but was told it wasn't necessary. The previous setup had a hot wire to my ammeter, going through a fuse and then all leads coming from the other side of fuse.....all the wiring got real crowded at that one side of ammeter and I'm sure I couldn't fit any more connections on the one screw. My questions / thoughts are 1) Could I use a bus bar to get the other connections and connect it to ammeter? 2) Should I use a fuse block for added acessories...and do I need a fuse for each added item? 3) Maybe a combo of the bus bar / fuse block will work? 4) Any other thoughts? Thanks in advance!
  11. My '24 oil pan is painted same color as engine, but not sure that was original.
  12. I've seen things like this on very early cars...American and European....it seems unusual in that it doesn't have the typical "bail handle" (?) ...here is something similar on a 1900 St. Louis.
  13. Haven't seen many, but here's a 1914 Detroit Electric.
  14. Here is one in my neighborhood in Fort Worth that just sits...the column to the left just gets worse and worse.
  15. On my car I am ready to fit the fuel lines. I've looked on the internet and can't find much regarding antique cars. My question is do I use compression fittings or flare fittings for my fuel lines? Thanks!
  16. Maybe it doesn't matter which size line to use for vacuum?
  17. I am doing the lines to my vacuum tank and doing 1/4" supply lines. On the vacuum line itself that comes from manifold is that supposed to be 5/16" or 1/4"? My manifold fitting is 1/4", but my vacuum tank fitting is larger. Thanks in advance!
  18. I used 3 layers of 1/4" oak glued together to achieve the 3/4" thickness...the 1/4" thickness is easy to bend.....the original pieces were finger jointed and I didn't know how to do that.
  19. Mine looks like the 2nd photo in 30Dodge35's post above....it looks like you may not have allowed for the dome light wood yet. I put burlap over the chicken wire and then thin, quilted, moving pad material above that to even out any lumps. Stretching the top covering tightly over perimeter metal and then stapling to wood. The peremeter metal shown in above photo allows for a lip that fits the recess of the upper body. I used 3M strip caulk from O'Reillys as the seal. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/MMM0/08578/N2356.oap?ck=Search_N2356_-1_-1&pt=N2356&ppt=C0171 also, a detail I did for my car
  20. A couple of years ago no one was making my size belting either...this is where I got mine for a '29 Dodge http://www.faccafasteners.com/Products/GlassSettingStrips.htm
