  1. Hi, I have a 1989 Silver w/ Grey Interior Reatta for sale, either as a whole or as parts. First a little history: I'm a High School Senior who bought it from my uncle last June for $1500, who received it years ago as a gift from my grandpa. My grandpa bought it brand new from the dealer in 1990. The car has around 100,000 miles on it, but is in pretty good condition; some minor cosmetic problems here and there, and the headliner is falling off, and some of the weatherstripping needs to be replaced as well. It has some electrical problems that need to be addressed, nothing huge, I just don't have the time or experience to do what needs to be done without breaking anything beyond repair. I currently don't drive it (and haven't since November) because of a problem with the break line. Back in November it broke, and my father and I had it fixed as a little shop project at school (he is a technology teacher there, and had one of the automotive shop teachers use it as a project). It wasn't fixed correctly however, and is now sitting in my garage with a leaking brake line again. Total I have had about $900 worth of work on the car. I don't know if anybody wants to buy it, but the entire car needs to be gone before I head of to college at the end of the summer. I'm not that into cars, but I'm confident that if I do need to sell it for parts, a combination of my father, a shop teacher, and I can get you whatever part you need. I want at least the $1500 I originally paid, but a best offer is going to have to do. I live in the Albany area of New York, but can ship parts anywhere (reasonably). I know that after looking around this forum for almost a year now that you guys are the best and most trustworthy people I could sell my car to, so here goes! Thank you everybody!
  2. I actually just ordered one, just in time. The car started stalling every time it began to idle. I lost half a tank of gas driving the 4 miles to the garage... $20 would have been nice though.
  3. To make a long story short... the old gas tank is leaking, and there is now a foot-wide hole in our asphalt driveway. GM says $600 for a new one, anybody know where I can get one cheaper?
  4. Even if i don't have 16 way seats?
  5. I just remembered...there was a plug under the passenger seat that I saw when I was cleaning. It wasn't connected to anything, and It kind of looks like the cords you use in computers to connect components.I'm sorry I can't explain better...
  6. I checked the fuse (it works) and my light show doesn;t work, but I was under the assumption that that was because my driver door switch was broken. Could that be causing the problem? My power locks work as well.
  7. Hi everyone, I've been checking out the car, and i discovered that the horn doesn't work, and neither do any of the interior lights. Any ideas? DO i have to replace them?
  8. I just got the car yesterday, and it's in a little worse shape than I thought. I probably am going to paint the car to dark grey (its silver right now), there are just so many scratches. Is that a good choice for a color change?
  9. Thanks for the help, I'll try that lock thing when I get the car.
  10. Hello, After observing this site for a couple months, I've decided it's time to step in and ask for some help. I'm a high school student in upstate New York, and this Saturday I'm going to be getting my first car- a silver '89 Reatta. It has 90,000 miles and hasn't been driven much for the past 10 years or so. It has some problems- Missing engine mount shock spring, broken antenna motor, falling headliner, and every time the car is started, it says that the drivers door is ajar (I'm guessing that is also what is keeping the "light show" from happening). It also has a little bit of rusting around the tire area and I'm thinking I might repaint it black. The interior of the car is a little worn too (leather is dull and maybe ripped, carpets are dirty, dashboard is faded). Well what I'm asking is for a little help. I've never had a car or really looked at one for a decent amount of time, but I would like to learn more and in the process make an amazing car look and beautifully again.
