  1. Roger, that's a lot of tail lights for one car! just kidding.....Do you know the history of the car? This just doesn't sound like something that would happen at the factory - more like someone took a few liberties on an earlier resto.
  2. Well I think I've made a diligent effort to find someone who would restore the running boards for my 36 Roadmaster and so far I've come up empty handed. There are restorers who have many molds for many makes and models but not the 36 Roadmaster. One guy in Ohio says that he would build a mold but only for an order no smaller than 20 sets at $1000/per set. I found another guy in Ohio that would like to do some improvising and then send it to a guy in Georgia for vulcanization - one possibility. These are all really nice folks I've talked to but I wanted to poll the crowd here to see what has been tastefully done with running boards. My 36 will be a driver, restored as much to original as possible. Any suggestions? Thanks, Joel Wilson
  3. I think I have found out the difference between 36 320 piston rings and 37-52. The 36 has 1/8" wide rings for the top two and 5/32" for the bottom two oil rings. The 37-52 has 3/32" rings for the top two and 3/16 for the oil rings. I've tried a couple other places that were mentioned and we'll see what they come up with this week. Thanks, Joel Wilson
  4. Does anyone know what changed with the Buick 320 rings from 1936 to 1937? Joel Wilson
  5. I am having a difficult time finding standard size piston rings for my 1936 320 engine. The rings for later year's 320 engines are different but I do not know in what way. I've tried the vintage buick suppliers with no luck except that Bob's does have +0.020 rings. My max wear on the cylinders is 0.0065 with minimum wear at 0.0025 and so I was really wanting to just do a hone job and go back with standard rings. Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I buy the +0.020 set and file to get the right end gap? Can I get these made? Do you know what the difference is between the 36 320 and the later years? Thanks for your help! Joel Wilson

  8. Thank you. I need to take a closer look and see if I can spot the clips from the back side. Joel
  9. Hello, I have visited this forum many times but this is my first post and certainly not my last. I am restoring a 36 Roadmaster and I need to remove the stainless trim that runs the length of the hood on each side just above the long hood hinge. Does anyone know how these come off? The hinge is on the backside and I can't see anything because of the hinge. Thank you very much and I look forward to more involvement on this forum.
