Last weekend my fuel pump failed or, the checkvalve inside is toast. It is a cheap crimped canister replacement that was on my nail when I acquired my Riv in 1980.

I wanted to pro-actively replace it but couldn't find any with dual 1/8" NPT ports or 3/8" inlet.

NAPA M4553 is no longer on the books.

It is clear to me I have to go with an original "rebuildable" fuel pump. Which leads to a question:

What is the correct AC fuel pump? P/N" 4706 or 4399?

Of course, any leads on locating any pump with a 3/8" inlet would be appreciated. TX!

I bought two off ebay and the # 4706. 1965 rivi gs

I know Bill Mitchell had a major influence on the design of the first generation Riviera but what moron decided to put the wiper motor under the left fender and the fuel sending unit in an unreachable spot in the gas tank up against the trunk floor and essentially inaccessible w/ o taking out the muffler. Would it have been so hard to make a small door/plate in the left fender well ( like they did for the antenna motor on the right ) or a small door in the trunk floor right over the sending unit ? Smart designers seem to often overlook the obvious . I’m griping about this now as I have just been trying to fix both problems . Maybe someone knows a good reason for both and will chime in and maybe my blood pressure will go down a few notches 😀. Now I feel better.

  3. Best way to know for sure is to measure but looking at the pics ,if that s the worst as you state I think you will be alright with cleaning pass only. I did not see any pits only surface rust.

If it had not been for censorship I would not have looked up what STFU stands for. Appears to be a acronym with a couple of superfluous letters. SU, maybe?

Its a tough guy acronym. As we all know its easy to be a tough guy from behind a keyboard. It means SHUT THE F— UP

  5. Civil discourse or  freedom of expression is being stiffled through censorship and other means not just here but in the world as a whole. . It does not seem to be of major concern to many people. My view of the world friend, nothing personal.

I saw the topic. Now I wish I had read it.

Funny thing about censorship. The majority doesn't care or notice the action until they are told it was censored.

Many are not bothered by it….its the world we now live in

It looks like I brought COVID home with me from Branson. If you feel the onset of any symptoms at all, get tested to avoid spreading it to others. It has given me a wicked sore throat and a slight fever. 8-(

Hope you got vaccinated and have no long term complications. My son got it in the first month it started spreading. Pre vacination time when they were still trying to figure it out. He survived but is still having issues with his lungs.

  8. My first was a 67 i bought when i was 17. It was 1973. What inspired me to buy it was a beautiful custom painted ,slammed to the ground 66 or 67 that was owned by one of the first people to install hydraulics in a low rider or any car for that matter. I ended up installing hydraulics on mine too. Man did i abuse that car! I got my current 65 2005. I was inspired to buy by a CARLS JR.  commercial that showed a group of young people pushing a beautiful teal 65 to CARLS JR. for a burger. I think it came out sometime around the mid to late 90’s.
