  1. I have the chrome switch plates without the switches. They are yours free if you want them
  2. 225k on a rebuild ... Wow! My 65 rivi gs has never even had the valve covers off. I baby the car and keep the oil clean. Upon initial start up there is a light tick coming from one of the lifters bit goes away once warmed. I think the engine has over 100k but cant say for sure. Odometer does not work. I do not plan on doing a rebuild so long as she runs good. She does use oil though. Where it goes i dont know. Does not smoke AT ALL leaks very little motor oil. I start my car in the same manner as teleriv for the same reasons. Once warmed up she fires right up in what seems like 1/2 a revolution. Car has original motor and trans.
  3. Tachman did mine about 8 years ago. Still works good. Highly recommend him.
  4. David ! NEVER is it a good idea to lift your engine via oil pan. Glad you didnt hurt anything.
  5. Consider getting new mounting hardware.you don't want a bolt snapping off in the block due to corrosion and age. Why a new harmonic balancer? Unless your original is damaged I would not change it.i could be mistaken but I think these engines are balanced externally and the harmonic balancer is part of the balancing.
  6. I would like to know where this old school shop is. My tranny has a leak that needs attention. I am by dodgers stadium in l.a. Thanks
  7. Same color combo as my car! Jason, what does not look right to you? Other than the height in rear, i can't spot anything incorrect.
  8. 909-786-5323 try this man. He may be able to help you. Always has at least 2 rivis parting out. He is in rancho cucamonga california
  9. I had the same problem on my 65. It turned out to be a connector that is located under the hood on the driver side inner fender well in the vicinity of the positive battery cable junction point. Imdont know if your year is worked in a similar fashion but if it is you may want to look at it . Mine was oxidized. I cleaned it and it was fine. The connector is two pieces that plug together and it's about two feet above the starter.
  10. So if I am understanding this correctly , you have 2 fuel pumps connected in series, one electric, one mechanical ? What is the purpose of having 2 ? Does the electric run all the time ?
  11. Alini Go to Los Angeles Craigslist " car parts" type in 1965 RIVIERA . There is an antenna there for sale. Also, the guy from rancho cucamonga always has 2 or 3 first gen Rivi he is parting out. I have been to his place. He has lots of parts for our cars. Arnulfo
  12. David, Chris, they are serviceable but they need to be taken apart cleaned and reassembled. I did it to mine. I had to jb weld the cover back on to make a tight seal. If I'm not mistaken, the wire that you got a connection with at 40% is the kick down circuit and is supposed to kick in at a part open throttle position. If either of you would like, I will try and service yours as I did mine at no charge, but no guarantees also. arnulfo
  13. Ill take it if still available arnulfo
  14. Is that your car in the avatar? BADASS COLOR! Looks like the original color of my car but prettier. Is it a candy or metallic? Would look great against my white interior. arnulfo
  15. Are there any telltale signs that would indicate the need for new or rebuilt rocker arms? Arnulfo
  16. I have a pair. They are yours. Pm your address. arnulfo
  17. Your ground wire might not be continuos all the way to the sending unit. Connect a test wire directly to the ground wire terminal on the gage. Connect the other end of the test wire to a verified ground. Also make sure you have power on positive side when ignition on. If that all checks out ,and gage does not move , most likely a bad fuel gage. arnulfo
  18. the first sentence in that article states the first red nailhead 425 appeared in 1965. Does he mean 1966 models built in 1965? I don't recall ever seeing a red 425 in a 1965. Mine is light green. Arnulfo
  19. They are not that difficult to rebuild yourself as long as you have the right tools namely the puller for removing the pulley. I think they can be rented at autozone. arnulfo
  20. You might try a welding supply store . Some make ground leads with various cosnfigurated terminating lugs. arnulfo
  21. You can get a cheap electric fuel pump to drain the gas. I do it all the time . Works like a charm. arnulfo
  22. Check that there is power at the micro switch at the top of the motor. There are two of them . One is for open , the other is for close. Arnulfo
