  1. Not testing on my rivi. On harley , probly just compression comparisons. The ole girl long ago lost her " seat of the pants" capability . ☹️
  2. I use mobil 1 per your recommendation ed with no additives. Was just curious as to whether anyone has tried the stuff. I may give it a try on an old beater harley of mine.
  3. Anyone ever use any of these oil additives? CerTechGels claims that you will see a noticeable improvement in engine performance comparable to a rebuilt engine. Supposedly reduces blowby and increases compression to the point of equalizing compression between all cylinders. What say you men?
  4. Ed, did not know how to post to this thread so reposted old threa with picture of frame. It the INTERESTING STORY thread. MR. RIVIERA owns the car
  5. Awhile back a member of this forum posted a picture of a license plate frame that appeared to be factory. It had a jog in the top rail to clear the license plate light. Never seen another like it on any rivi. Will try and see if i can find it .
  6. That is very impressive Tom! 425 or 401 ? Ever been rebuilt? To what would you most attribute such longivity ? Im trying to keep from rebuilding mine ( 425) for as long as i can. So far, im at about 140k . I change the oil every 3k miles , keep her tuned as best i can, rarely drive over 70 mph. In short, i baby my car. Thanks in advance for any pointers.
  7. That is one very impressive build. Not my style but a salute to the mans fabrication/ build skills.
  8. Beautiful car but man those gages look horrible where they are!
  9. I would like to see a picture of that tom.thanks
  10. Good advice TEXRIV. i use that starting proceedure every time i start the car.
  11. Used to have tappet noise every morning at start up. Went away once motor was at operating temp. At the time was using 50 wt . Changed to 10-40 and noise went away. Good luck
  12. Man that is crazy money ! I remember a forum member mentioning something about filling the hollow cavity in the back of the bar with epoxy. I think it was Ed ( Rivnut) that mentioned it. Anyone do that ? What kind of epoxy did you use? Thinking im going to do that to mine while it is still in one piece.
  13. Thanks for the help 65 verdegs. I have one of those pumps. Will check can as you suggest.also, thats exactly what mine does i.e. Pings when you lay into it in high gear.
  14. Always pinged when on ported vacuum. Switched to manifold and pinging stopped but idled rough. What teleriv states makes sense about too much advance on manifold vacuum. Also i think they came with ported vacuum from factory. Im thinking todays gas is a big reason for the detonation even though i always use highest octane here in l a which is 92
  15. Dave, yes factory dual quad. I have not taken distributor out to verify that it is the right one for a gs but thinkinking it is because everything else is what it should be for a gs. Will check total timing next. What total timing are you at ?thanks
  16. What are you using for vacuum to your distributor? Ported or manifold? I previously had mine ported but got some very bad pinging when accelrating on freeway. Changed to manifold vacuum and pinging stopped but now idles rougher. Is it a choice between the two? Thanks
  17. I think i recall reading a post that stated that there is a plug ( like a welch plug ) on the underside of the intake manifold . Are my recollections correct? Tried the search function but came up blank. Thanks men
  18. Beautiful car and great idea on the veneers!
  19. Bob, I was planning on buying from US RADIATORS when the time comes that I need to. Surprised to read that, yours sprung a leak so soon. Which model did you get? I was considering upgrading to a four core in their high efficiency model. I still have the original in my 65. Been Rodded out once. Car has never overheated but then I never have sat idling in + 90 heat with ac on. My ac don't work. Someday I may get around to fixing it . It's all there under the hood still .
  20. Lots of biracial couples here in los angeles ed. I have a grand daughter that is biracial ( mexican/ black ) and she is adorable !
