  1. My guess would be to contact the CA DMV and request a new plate due to the fact that you "lost" one. I my state MA, you just pay for a replacement plate. In MA, plates don't stay with the sale of a car.
  2. "Shallow Hal" with Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow (just on TV again the other night); an 89-93 slant-back Buick Riviera.
  3. I feel the same way with those big a-- band saws.
  4. I'm going to guess 1956? My '56 Mercury had one, but my dad's '60 Ford Fairlane did not.
  5. My dad had a free trip to Hawaii curtesy of the US Navy. The dangerous part was that he was there on December 7, 1941, on deck of the Battleship Oklahoma.
  6. I also had the exact same problem.
  7. Tom...I think you forgot what your first name is. I still remember mine, and I'm a hell of a lot older than you!!
  8. I remember on "M" Squad Lee Marvin drove a shoe-box Ford.
  9. My suggestion would be to contact the AACA library to see if they could help.
  10. Friday, I spent just 99 cents for a head of iceberg lettuce on sale at my MA Stop n' Shop grocery store.
  11. Never been there, would never do that...totally afraid of heights!
  12. I was influenced by my dad to the car hobby but not the types of autos. He was strictly a Ford guy while I'm interested mostly in Buicks and Cadillacs. He did teach me a lot about auto mechanics during my youth up until I left home in my twenties.
  13. Wow, that air filter was certainly dirty for the Riv having only 11K+ miles!
  14. My dad bought one new in August of 1962 at Good Brothers Ford in Randolph, MA. Got my drivers license in 1966 using that car. His trade-in was a 1956 Ford Fairlane 4door that he bought new in San Deigo, CA.
  15. Would have loved to see a Reatta rear wheel drive turbo V6 in production. My guess is that GM would have sold quite a few.
  16. There is also an online forum that is dedicated to the last generation Rivieras: Riviera Performance - Dashboard (editboard.com). Check it out.
  17. Beautiful looking '97 Riviera. Good luck with it. I once owned both a '96 and a '97, both supercharged. If conditions were right, I could actually "chirp" the front tires at full acceleration! One thing I experienced between my two Rivieras was that the '97 had a "one-year-only" differently configured suspension than the other '95-'99 Rivieras.
  18. When I was 17 in 1966, I bought my neighbor's 1956 Mercury for $35. It had a 3 on the floor "speed-O-matic" spring loaded neutral so that you could jamb it from 1st to 2nd real fast. It had been converted from a 3 on the tree. Brother and I stripped all the chrome trim work off and painted it "British Racing Green"! I sold it a couple of years later for $50.
  19. Merry Christmas to you too, Ronnie.
  20. I've owned two Cadillacs with the NorthStar 4.6V8 engine; a 1999 ETC (sold it and bought my 1991 Reatta) and my current 2000 ESC. I have to admit I've never had any oil or head gasket issues with either Caddy. Now that I no longer own a Riviera, I plan to drive my 2000 Eldorado to the 2024 ROA National in KY. Maybe I can slip it in with the 6th or possibly the 8th gen Rivieras!
