  1. John, No... I got busy with other things and kind of got away from it. Is that something you need?
  2. Several weeks ago I was replacing the "Insurance Cards" in our cars. Of course this was the perfect opportunity to "Exercise" each of them. When I got to the 1970 Cadillac convertible it not only wouldn't start, the "Key in the Ignition-Switch" buzzer didn't even make a sound --- Dead Battery? So I hooked up my Jumper-Pak -- again, nothing !!, No horn, no lights, no radio, no ignition key buzzer --- nada, zip, zero, nothing !! OK - undo the battery hold-down and both cables - pull out the battery, and bring it home for a "Slow-Charge", but after getting it to the charger, my multi-meter (should have had it with me in the first place) showed a strong 12 Volts. I put it on for a 2-Amp charge anyway, just to ensure a proper charge, and went about other responsibilities. Long about 3:00 AM I woke from a deep sleep with the realization that we had installed a hidden "Master Electrical Cut-Off" in a hidden location. After successfully skinning three knuckles, and bruising a couple of fingers (these blood-thinners really do work), an reconnecting the battery, I reminded myself to flip the switch on the Master Cut-Off, and as if newly-enchanted, the big elegant Cadillac convertible sprang to life at the twist of that golden key. I would like to think that she was smiling, but maybe it was just smirking at me. ..... good thing she can't give me a "dope-slap" ..... oh wait, she did with her hood.

  4. Rod, I made a phone contact with a friend in the Phoenix area who will contact someone in Las Vegas. You should hear from them shortly. Marty
  5. Not Mine - for Seal Cove Museum - Maine HELP NEEDED We-- the Seal Cove Auto Museum-- are working on our 1921 Series 5 Mercer Touring Car. It has not been run in many, many years. In the process, we find that we have one destroyed lifter and lifter guide. Is it possible that anyone out there knows where we can find a replacement???-or even advise us where to go to have a new one made? Any leads would be most appreciated. If you have any leads, I can have someone, who is more 'in the know' than me, get in touch with you. We are always most appreciative of our 'car friends' who come to our rescue. Barbara Barbara D. 8. Ted, I may be wrong, but I would think you could park at Chocolate World in a Handicap Space, and would certainly want to shop there, and possibly eat there as well. It is adjacent to, or accessible to all Flea Market Fields.
  9. then you are Elna & Ed's granddaughter? We enjoyed their company on many tours
  10. Hey Bill - Great Idea, --- But then I would have the '37 and the '38 at home, and STILL no garage space. I'm leaning toward putting the '34 up for sale, but still know I will regret it down the road....
  11. I guess I could give some thought to leaving it in another area to use for touring, but it deserves to be exercised regularly.
  12. Maybe we should just leave it with friends in another part of the country, and have it available for touring.
  13. Maybe the exhaust pipe or muffler hitting the floorboard or frame member?

  15. Congratulations Matt, and welcome to the Buick side of the street.
  16. It is hard to get excited about passing along a great car - again, the comparison with the '37
  17. It is a FANTASTIC DRIVER, but is it too nice to drive? That is probably one of the dumbest things I could think of - I love driving it - and I love riding in it - and the covered sidemounts and the matching trunk really dress it as Buick meant it to be - For the successful Businessman or young professional-- but don't I get the same feeling with the '37 Roadmaster , plus the option of dropping the top?
  18. I agree with Matt' and Motoringicon's posts, and could add several stories. If a problem does occur with a major carrier, at least you have recourse. A gentleman who bought one of my cars which had just finished a week-long tour of nearly a thousand miles, insisted that brokers owed him favors, and I agreed to have the car held in paid storage for a short time so he could make arrangements. The car sat four expensive months, and rode at least four or five different open trailers, taking another four months to cross the country - so obviously it sat at different brokers' outside lots. When it finally arrived, he called to tell me it was filthy, and drove so poorly that he could not keep it in one lane going down the road, and that I must have lied to him. I asked him to look under the car to se if one of "HIS" gypsy-carriers had tied it down by the tie-rods!!! Yup, you guessed it -- "S" shaped tie rods -- certainly not the way they were when I drove the Founders Tour, or when it was sold to him. There must have been other damage caused along the way, because I soon saw another ad, that he was selling what was a wonderful driver with a brand new convertible top. You get what you pay for, and with what we invest in these cars, and how much they mean to us,.... Well, my Dad used to say "Penny-Wise and Pound-Foolish".
  19. I saw a station @ $3.31/gal yesterday, but chose to go to one of my favorite "NO-ETHANOL" places, and paid $3.49/gal after driving round trip to Houma for dinner with the Lagniappe Chapter of Louisiana's AACA Region.
  20. John, You are good - that would have been my thought, as well...
  21. This article appeared in the on-line link to Hemmings today, about a lady, the original and current owner of her 220,000 mile 1954 Buick: Life-long love affair with a 1954 Buick Special | Hemmings Daily
  22. Mike, A great contact might be Ed Lappin in Littleton. A first class guy. Do you know Lyle Pierson in Colorado Springs? I got my 1934 from him back in 1995, and he bought it in 1970. He had several other Buicks, including a 1938, as I recall. He is a BCA member, and in the Roster, or you can call/email me. Maybe he has a contact. You could also talk with the curator of the Clive Cussler collection, or the folks at the Gateway Museum to see who does their work.
