  1. My 32nd consecutive year in Chocolate Field CG 32-34
  2. Tommy is correct - 2011 was the year after which my Packard had received her Senior, and I thought about taking it to Santa Rosa. Unfortunately my schedule had a conflict, and I ultimately decided to use it as a Tour-Driver instead.
  3. Our 1965 Corvair Monza has a Manual (non-Power) operated top. It moves up and down effortlessly. This is my first Non-Power convertible top. All of our other cars have either hydraulic-, or vacuum- cylinders. When a power system is non-functional, then working against the pistons is very difficult, but if your springs are in place, check to see if they are properly attached, and lubricate each and every hinge point. Someone may have excessively tightened a swivel or hinge location. Check to see that they are not binding

JK, The only concern you'll have is that the 7.00 x 20 will be very tight in the side-mount wells when fully inflated
  5. Hi John, -- beautiful car! Wishing you health - Does this car have Air Conditioning? What is the mileage? Do you have photos of the engine compartment? Interior photos?

I have seen 7.00x20 tires used successfully on a 1930 Packard 733 Series
  7. Welcome to the FORUM, and congratulations on your 1954 Buick
  8. I wish you luck in finding identical replacements, and am sorry that the "Correct" mirrors won't hide thew aftermarket mirror's holes. By the way, the mirrors on your car are most certainly "aftermarket". They may have been installed by the selling dealership, but I cannot believe that the car rolled off the Flint Assembly Line with them. Back then, even the correct mirrors were dealer-installed when ordered, and not typically factory-installed. Again, best of luck in finding a replacement - and you might try JC Whitney or a similar outlet
  9. Having a great time so far on the AACA Founders Tour - thjis is the 28th Founders, and I've been on all 28 Tomorow is a boat ride, and then a visit to the fabulous Swigert Museum here in Huntingdon, PA
  10. Another better option would be to order a matched pair of correct reproduction mirrors from Bob's, or another similar supplier. That should make the gentleman even happier, and the car would certainly look better.
  11. For many years we toured in our 1927 Chevy Capitol AA Roadster , and it proved to be an extremely dependable and roadworthy car - fun to drive - and with more power and a 3-speed transmission, it seemed far more driver-friendly than other contemporary cars. It was easy to work on (the few times it actually required any attention). We drove it on several Glidden. Nickel, and Vintage Tours, including driving it up Pikes Peak in 1990, and most of the Great River Road over a multiple year period. Our yellow and black roadster was probably a strong #3, and sold 9 or 10 years ago and was then valued at $17,000. It is likely available again soon as the current Louisiana caretakers have another goal in mind. The late '27 Chevys have the same Overhead Valve cylinder head as the 1928 model (AB) which means they have Dual Exhaust Ports on the head, as well as enclosed pushrod and rocker arm covers
  12. Please consider watching CBS SUNDAY MORNING today !! Mo Rocca will interview AACA's own Bernie Golias - AACA National Board Member as a part of the segment on Cleveland, Ohio. Bernie co-wrote a book on the Winton motor car 19 years ago, and will hopfully be a great source, exposing AACA and our hobby to the general public. Thank you Bernie - Way-to-Go !!
  13. Paul, I know you like air-cooled cars, so..... Another option might be for you to consider our "Drive Anywhere" 1965 Corvair Monza 4-speed convertible in New Orleans - the one we drove 2,000 miles to attend the Naples, Florida meet in March. Phone or email me for details, and why we will likely be offering it for "adoption". It is a No-Rust 23,xxx mile 110hp dual-carb Monza with a very nice white interior, brand new white convertible top and boot, Five (5) brand new whitewall radials, and a working AM radio. Dale's knees now make it difficult for her to exit the car.

  15. I commend your impetus and welcome the hopeful outcome. I started attending Pate in the 1970s, and attended every year until you moved it from the Pate Ranch to the racetrack (and separated our multiple spaces from the groups we had always been a part of). I've not been back since the move, and sometimes think of trying to attend again. I applaud the idea of an area specifically designated for Pre-War, although I vend both Pre- as well as Post-War at Hershey, and still have my Petit Jean spaces. Terry Bond's suggestions (above) are right on-target. and PLEASE ELIMINATE the NON-AUTOMOTIVE. Even my wife complains about the dishes, bric-a-brac, and other ridiculous stuff some vendors try to push which have no place at an automotive swap meet. Pate always used to have a great Car Corral, and I bought and sold cars as well as mostly pre-war parts when the meet was still at the ranch - in the spaces diredtly in front of the windmill and horse corral Please report back on this post as to your findings and your ability to follow through.
  16. Our '95 Fleetwood Brougham was damaged Prefer Gold paint if possible, and I could likely arrange transport. WE COULD DO WITHOUT THE FENDERS, but would like everything else bodywise, from bumper and grille, to all lights, trim, hood and supporting structure. Please PM or email me by clicking on my name - above left

  18. Once again,, Matt is right on target I use only Non-ethanol 87 Octane at home, and any Non-ethanol I can find when travelling I pay $2.29 at home, and paid $3.49/gallon today in Salem, Ohio on the CCCA Mini-CARavan THe lowest octane available will help reduce vapor lock, and I sometimes add 10% Diesel to my gas in the old cars for this purpose - It will smoke a bit, but really helps, and you may just help to reduce the mosquito population....
  19. Thanks Walt, By the way, My 1937 which is pictured above, is an all-original car - unrestored
  20. You should find your Buick perfectly acceptable as it was designed and produced by the factory. There really is no need to "Modernize" as these Buicks are fine driving cars as intended. Additional systems tend to unnecessarily complicate. The Buick steers very easily without power steering. A proper rebuild of the factory brakes is more than adequate for reasonable driving. The six-volt electrical system works beautifully in my 1937 Roadmaster, especially since I use triple-aught (000) sized battery cables - too many restorers try to get away with modern lightweight 12-Volt cables which will not carry proper current in a 6-Volt system. Then they try to "Modernize" a perfectly good car! 1937 Buick with marty and Nathan.shs
  21. What are the DOT date codes on the NOS: New Old Stock-Nine 185/80x13 Goodyear Arrivas -1 ½" wide white walls this would be the last four digits in the DOT code (if manufactured since 2000) or the last three (3) digits if manufactured prior to 2000
  22. I well remember the Davis in your driveway back when you lived in Louisiana. My wife really liked the Davis, and hoped that you would have kept it, as well as the big Pierce Arrow "Worlds Fair" car you let go to acquire your Cord. You've certainly had several outstanding cars come and go over the years. Your '17 Franklin 9-A Touring which came from Dr Whittaker's collection in Waterproof, went through my hands and is now in a Franklin collection in the Lehigh Valley. The yellow and black '27 Chevy Roadster likewise passed through my collection after being driven on many Glidden and Vintage tours, still resides in Louisiana, and will again be offered for sale by its current owner of ten years. I wish I could have bought one of the other '38 Super Eight Packards when you had three of them side-by-side in your garage - Convertible Cabriolet, Club Sedan, and Touring Sedan with those special personalized license plates.
  23. I've had excellent and very fair service over the years, having dealt with the companies who specialize only in our type of vehicles, and would be hesitant to deal with the "Majors".
