I left it in when I re-plated mine. I just worked around the glass when polishing it up and the copper and nickel plating solution only runs up to 110 deg F. Being non-conductive, the glass won't attract any plating metals. FYI - you can normally just shake down the red alcohol in the tube like an oral thermometer.

Place the assembled unit in the freezer until all of the Mercury is down all the way -
and/or tap the bottom against a solid surface to help bring it down and contiguous,
Then have it plated, and it should be just fine.
I had this done several decades ago with no issues.

I was just wondering since a lot of 30s left hand drive cars had the door outside lock on the passenger side like my 35 Buick but not on the driver side.I asked about this and found out that some states had a law that you could only enter a vehicle from the passenger side due to safety and road conditions.Dose that mee n that British cars had the lock and key on the other side? And do post office vehicles have the steering wheel on the left side in England, the mail boxes must be on the other side of the road also I would guess.
Other than local, and state laws, it is safer to enter from the curb / sidewalk side, than to be out in traffic where you're surely more susceptible to being struck by another vehicle.

An absolutely beautiful and perfect PAIR -Re-Chromed (Possibly NOS?) Chrome Trumpets for external horns on 1934-1935 Buick .
These were spares for my 50 Series Senior Grand National and were never installed. Overall length is 7-1/2 inches plus another inch for the mutes, totalling 8-1/2 inches.
My guess is that they should be worth in the range of $500 for the pair since redoing the Chrome of your own perfect pair plus the extremely rare Trumpets would cost at least that much at a top quality shop such as Paul’s or Graves.
Of course I am open to a reasonable offer and would like them to be used on another Buick

Nice,I wonder if they would adapt to fit a40 series? Id need the horns also though.
Thanks for your interest.
If you had bought the chrome headlights I brought to Hershey last year, you'd be all set-
Yes, you would need the horns as they are threaded and screw into the horn housing.
I have to check to see if there is also a pair of horns, but that part of the garage is not yet easily accessible.

I have two (2) rebuilt Dual Action fuel pumps for 1934-1935 Buick 50 Series.
Each pump include the glass bowl used to filter impurities and to separate water in the fuel.
Each pump is also equipped with two separate diaphragms, one to pump the fuel, and the other to enhance vacuum for such items as the 1934-1935 Buick Power Brake system, as well as vacuum windshield wipers so they would be less affected by acceleration - a problem for lesser vehicles whose wipers stopped or slowed dangerously when the driver stepped on the gas, which would otherwise reduce vacuum.
These dual-action fuel pumps likely fit other models, other years, and makes of GM vehicles, but I don't have supporting documentation.
The first comes with a receipt from NAPA, and is shown as a Special Order #7602, dated 6-4-91, and remanufactured from Rayloc, and is the lighter colored of the two pumps.
The second pump appears to be an AC Rebuild, based on the label on the box, and is the darker colored of the two pumps.
How's $150/each or $250 for the pair, including the two rebuild kits, delivered to Hershey, or to the Glidden in Georgia?
Of course I'm always open to a reasonable offer?

This convertible top PARADE hard boot cover has never been unwrapped or opened,
and was only removed from the plastic sleeve to get these photos.
Even the original instructions for installation and removal are still on the boot.
This was delivered with our 2005 Chrysler Sebring Touring Convertible, likely fits several other years as well ,
supposedly 2001-2006 if literature is correct
While soft versions list for $250 on Ebay,
The Hard Parade Boot Cover - even USED go for $400 on Ebay.
This one is Brand New - Never Installed!
I think it should be worth at least $300 to a good home, and will consider your thoughts.
I could bring it to the Glidden Tour in Georgia, or to Hershey,
or possibly leave it with other friends up that way.
I also have the holder for the Front License Plate - still in its sealed wrapper

I think those are radials.
Agreed !
Michelin came out with Radial back in 1948, as I recall-
And they didn't need to have an "R" in the sidewall size description, either.

If the ones you have won't pump up, just take one of the wheels to your friendly neighbourhood tyre shop. They are bound to have some used 16" light truck tyres on their pile that will do the job for now and, as others have said, they'll be glad to get rid of them. You'll need new tubes of course.
Surprisingly, once the old tires and tubes are removed, an early rim such as the ones on my '41 Cadillac will often work with modern tubeless tires, holding air pressure without a tube -
so used 16" modern take-offs could work for you as well

@JRHaelig,
Sorry John, but I could not come up with any reason for you not to go and check it out.
As @Jon37 notes, "if the frame is solid, you're off the hook".
Maybe get another Hudson guy - maybe Wayne Tuck - to drive over with you in his magnificent Hornet for comparison -
or just for spiritual advice and support?
I recall hanging on the fence in the early 1950s at Linden Airport when USAC races ran there, and Hornets were beating the pants off of the Olds Rockets which were being pumped out right across US-1 at the B-O-P GM Assembly Plant.

Thank you, Dave,
A friend reminded me that I “only” paid $500 or maybe $600 at 125 or $150 Each for the four of them, but that was 1978 or 1979.
Of course that still doesn’t give me a value today, and of course I want to be flexible so that they can be enjoyed by a Franklin owner, driver, or at least someone who appreciates them.

These appear to be a reproduction of an aftermarket accessory. I recently removed a similar set from my 1930 sedan.
Hello Steve - good to hear from you !
Yes, these are possibly an old reproduction,
I bought them at Hershey around 1978 or 1979, as I recall.
In any case, the quality and detail seem quite good, with many original features.
It seems they would be a nice, and useful addition to Franklin cars of the era.
We expect to be in Tucson again later next year on tour, and hope to once again visit the Franklin museum there.
A couple of folks have sent me a PM, describing essentially identical plates on early cars, but without the embossed name of a vehicle in the center rectangle.
I can bring them to the Glidden in Georgia, to Hershey, or could leave then with friends in the area for someone who might be interested.
Thank you for your response.
