Jason, thanks. I contacted Classic Auto Air in Tampa and they indicated they can rebuild my existing hose in 4 weeks for somewhere between $60-$250. Sounds like a plan.
Does anyone know of a source for a 1964 high pressure air conditioning line? There are no sources in the Review and I haven't found anybody making an after market part.
I used the Dakota Digital (DD) speed sensor. You just remove the speedometer cable at the transmission, attach the pulse sensor and reattach the cable. There is a twisted pair cable that plugs into the universal wiring harness. Pretty simple. The unit can be bought from DD for $35.
The remote is hard wired into the supplied harness. I guess you could have an inline connector to connect/disconnect. There are about 10 wires going to the controller.
I've have a Pertronics in my '64 for over ten years without a problem. I did have to remove the distributor to shim to get the right gap. I carry a spare module, cost about $60. Johnrex
Powermaster has verything you need to increase alternator output. (High Amp). Talk to Brady at tech support. He helped me with the same change. Johnrex
It's a fairly easy job if you follow the instructions. They are pretty good. You should replace the dryer and all o-rings before evacuating the system. I converted my 1964 about 5 years ago and have had no problems.
Ed. I have had the original Pertronix unit for the last 9 years in my '64 along with their coil. Never had any problem but I do carry a spare module just in case. John
It's definitely an inflated tire like your pictues #2. The installation looks like a factory job. I've only had the car about three years. Good luck. Johnrex
The last time I checked with Cars, they had no stock and didn't expect to get anymore. I did buy some from: Chuck Close 811 Oceanhill Drive Huntington Beach, Calif. 92648 714-553-8111 cell 714-969-9161 Good luck!
