  1. Anyone have a source on dual quad carb kits numbers 3645S and 3646S? I have found one place that sells them but they have a leather accelerator pump and I am thinking I need a neoprene accelerator pump to work with ethanol fuel. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. BTW, a search of carb king turned up nothing. Thanks, Larry
  2. Ok, I didn't know that they ever had the breather tube going to the air cleaner. Thanks for the info.
  3. I notice a set of nailhead aluminium valve covers on ebay right now but they look different than mine. One side has a PCV hole just like mine but the other has two larger holes. One for the filler cap and I don't know what the other hole is for. can anyone shed some light on this please. Original GM Buick GS V8 Nailhead 401 425 Finned Script Aluminum Valve Covers | eBay
  4. All great points guys. now to see if carbking makes kits for my dual quads.
  5. Sorry, i am a fan of Pertronix. no problems and not hard to fix if required. no dwell meter of feeler gauges required. If points were so good, they would still be using them.
  6. Hi Guys, Since I am doing a frame off on my '64 Buick, I am wondering what I could be doing to make sure that I can safely use premium fuel that has ethanol added to it. Do I need to change fuel lines? Carb kits? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks,
  7. Something a lot of people don't realize is that one of the components of a dual quad set up is a special distributor. The dual quad distributor has a different curve to it. Unfortunately the distributor is harder to find than the dual quad intake and carbs. I have been lucky enough to scrape together 3 complete sets but I am not ready to sell any yet.
  8. I have been playing around with this for a while now. I've used soda but it is messy, clogs easy and has to be neutralized. It also doesn't take rust off. I used sand for a while but after using up my first bag I couldn't buy it anymore because of the silicosis issues. I was recommended recycled glass. It works every bit as well as sand, won't warp metal and is really cheap. It is also MUCH safer than sand on the lungs but you still need to use a respirator at the very least. I would highly recommend a fresh air supply. You won't care how good the paint is stripped off if you can't breath anymore!
  9. Any way of finding out how many 4867 cars had the dual quad option??
  10. LOL... the problem isn't that I am spending time on FFCars..... It is that I am spending time on the F5 Cobra ;-)
  11. Wonder bar radios only came in AM. They had a bar on the top of the face that would search the next station. Mine also has a button on the floor beside the dimmer switch that would do the same thing. I am keeping mine because that is wat it came with but I did buy some speakers that "look" completely stock but sound much better than stock. be careful that you only use 8 ohm speakers with these radios or you will burn out the radio. I bought my speakers here: Classic Car Speakers The next problem I had was that there are no AM stations within 500 miles of where I live so I bought this: RediRad Classic Car AM and FM radio adapter- MP3/Satellite Radio to AM or FM band This allows me to tap in my iPhone and play any music I want on my classic am radio without losing the originality. Heck, I can even play the online FM stations on my AM radio if I like. I know there are companies out there that make radios that look stock but this is one way to stay 100% stock and still enjoy whatever music you want :-) HTH's
  12. No, not yet. I'm not at that point yet. :-( Still cutting out rust and welding in new steel.
  13. I'm pretty sure a 63 and 64 full size are the same. My car is an Electra :-)
  14. VERY nice! I hope my '64 Electra convertible looks that good when I am done :-)
  15. Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if they could do my hubcap centres?
  16. hmmmm I JUST bought one on ebay for $10.50. Not brand new but usable :-) I have one in new condition so I will keep this one as a spare. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/150941447232?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_500wt_1200
  17. I just stripped the original top off of my '64 Electra last week and it had the shiny side down.
  18. Are you doing a large area or small parts? I use recycled glass in my blasting cabinet and for nooks and crannies after I chemically strip the body of the car. The chemical strip I use is https://www.acklandsgrainger.com/AGIPortalWeb/WebSource/ProductDisplay/globalProductDetailDisplay.do?item_code=DSSSSO Just know though that it takes off one layer at a time. it is virtually odourless but will sting/burn if splashed on bare skin. I have really like it.
  19. Ok, here's the scoop..... i will be selling the brown console only. I will not be selling the white one I mentioned above. This console is in nice condition. There are two very fine cracks at the front of the console where the chrome meets the plastic. It can easily be crazy glued to make them invisible. The metal has surface pitting. Easily rechromed. The pieces I sent in for my white console were in worse condition and they didn't think there would be a problem with them. Here's something that if I didn't mention you probably wouldn't notice.. The plastic bushings that the lid pivots on are showing some wear. It doesn't affect the operation but is something to know about. When I list this on eBay I will be starting the bid at $350. If someone on this board wants it and you contact me before I list it you can have it for $325. For some reason I can't attach pics to this thread. I am posting the link to another Buick forum where the pics are. If this isn't allowed please accept my apologies and remove this entire post. Ironing board console going up for sale
  20. I finally found my extra ironing board console. I took a quick look at it yesterday. Hopefully later today I will be able to take some pics of it. I do know that there is some pitting on the metal parts. I am going to hit with the buffer and see how deep they are. If my memory serves me right, the plastic casing is in good shape. I disassembled my other console a few days ago and sent the metal off for re chroming. That console is a parchment white and the one I am listing is a mocha brown in color. I think I would be able to offer either colour if someone has a need as I will changing the colour to black for my own use. Please stayed tuned for the eBay listing and pics
  21. Maybe this guy can help you out.... Page Title He did a nice job on mine for my '64 Electra
