With you being from Missouri, I am guessing the car had a previous life somewhat north of its present home. Oh yeah...nice car. </div></div> Thanks..Yes, it was my Dad's car, and originally from Minnesota. Tommy

If you back off the nut below the plug you can pull the long heater element in a long bulb or tube, out. I have one on my 58 wagon. I don't know how effective they were. </div></div> Wow, mystery solved. Thanks to everyone for the inputs. Aren't computers great! Tommy
  3. The outside door handle on my '49 2DR Sedanette pulls away from the door (unless you know the secret code) and puts a nice scratch in the paint, which gets worse upon each event. Looking thru the inspection hole, it appears that the handle itself is secure, but the latch mechanism that it attaches to has the movement. Is anyone familiar with this problem? Where can I get a new latch, or is there a repair for the problem? Thanks Tommy
  4. Thanks for the inputs. My main concern was that it came on the car originally, and just wasn't connected. It did look kind of odd to me though. Everything seems to be working OK, except for my dash lights. I will start another thread for that one. Cheers. Tommy

  6. This is the switch I am referring to. I am located in Warrensburg, MO.

  9. Good Morning...I have a question about my 49 Buick Super with a straight eight. On the left side of the engine, screwed into the very top of the head, next to the valve cover, is a switch that is not connected, and I don't know what it is for. Can't find it in my manual. It has two prongs on the top of the switch, almost like the prongs on a two prong extension cord. Anyone have an idea of what this switch is? Buick is a stick shift. Thanks Tommy
