  1. The cost of a complete 134a conversion is about the same as replacing a compressor and recharge on an R12 system. The high cost of R12 offsets the cost of the additional components required with the conversion. Most people look to the future and anticipate needing refrigerant in the future and consider the 134a conversion more cost effective even though it costs about the same as the R12 repair. ($700)
  2. Richard brings up a variety of good points. The space shuttle accidents were both failures of management not engineering. Properly maintained, Reattas and its systems (including Teves) are one of the most reliable cars on the road.
  3. Car parts shouldn't be a problem for the TSA. If you check your bag it eliminates the possibility of a problem.
  4. If you are planning on tinting the rear window I would take the car to the tint shop with these panels removed. It makes for an easier work around for the tinter and a neater job.
  5. Two Door, What color is the paper manual that is contained in the black binder? My photo is of a prototype owner's portfolio or simply an extremely early photo.
  6. Interesting. That photo came with a group of other BMC photos that included pictures of a "prototype" Reatta convertible. It included matching painted mirrors and the rear reflector painted to match the body. The prototype didn't have the Reatta Script on the BSM.
  7. This is what the portfolio is supposed to look like. The other picture is a nice Riviera being prepared for the 400 point judgeing at Ames Iowa.
  8. Had the cat put on today and now she purrs again.
  9. Turns out I need a cat. Muffler availability is a PITA. Thanks to everybody for their suggestions
  10. "Could go for the schoolbus look... " Padgett, why is it you know so much about school busses?
  11. I was hoping that there was an easy fix but I guess that using the old tailpipes is the only way to do it. Thanks guys.
  12. Greg, Did the Riviera mufflers have the same dual tailpipe?
  13. Has anybody had any luck getting an original style muffler from a local shop? Is the 88-90 different fom the 91? I have a 91 with a bark and it quiets down when it gets warm. No two of my cars drive exactly the same. They all have a personality all their own.
  14. When I bought my 91 convertible it would not run. The car looked nice but needed a GOOD jump start to run. Once running it would quit when driven 10 feet. Bought it anyway. Had it flatbedded to my mechanics shop. Repair order read "just bought car...doesnt run... make it run." Risky you say? Not really. Too bad NEMO cant find a competent, honest shop like this. They called me at 4:30 PM same day and told me that the car's battery had an internal short. They replaced the battery and it has run fine without a problem since.
