  1. Pat, I sent you a PM with a link to Ontario's seat belt law. regards, Mike
  2. First, determine if your wheels are correct for a '52 Olds. Next, ensure the fingers or "grippers" are angled (bent) correctly.
  3. Great car Carol, Please ask Dad to re-locate those yard tools. We would hate to hear that one of the fell on the Buick.
  4. David's 3rd point is the best advice. If your driving behavior changes after you install seatbelts (in other words you drive your old car like a modern car), your placing yourself at risk.
  5. Rusty, McBride's Garage and Auto Body Co. of Toronto built a custom body on a 1933 Auburn 12 for the Eaton family. I don't know of any other others.
  6. David, are you referring to Leatherique ? PPC • Restoration Specialists • Leatherique - leather care, leather renovation - Rejuvenator Oil, Prestine Clean, Crack Filler, Custom Colour Dye There are a few distributors in Canada, I don't know if there are any in the USA
  7. You can install a jam nut if it makes you feel better, but these rods do not tend to turn (loosen).
  8. Pat, If your local welder doesn't have any 00 guage welding cable, Princess Auto in Sudbury should have it.
  9. Fabulouscar. If your inclined to re-connect the Startix, I suggest you follow the instructions on that great tag you have. One of the common forum followers services and restores the Startix, if required. When searching for spares, which are common, please note that there are 6V and 12V versions, so watch for the correct one. While there is much written about the dis-advantages of the Startix, there are also quite a few cars that are extensively driven that have retained the Startix. I'm very curious as to what tires you find hiding under those sidemount covers.
  10. There are many sugestions in this thread. I too have used the weight of the car to compress the spring with a floor jack under the lower control arm BUT I was confident that I could do so with an A body GM. Now that I'm less prone to taking risks, I also have a good spring compressor. With this particular application, I have no idea if the weight of the car would be sufficient. If CDN224 is not inclined to use a spring compressor but try the floor jack method, Yes, chain the frame to the floor slab.
  11. In addition to Joe's suggestions, you can also chain the frame to your garage floor, presuming you have a well hook embedded into your concrete floor slab.
  12. To get the attention of Bill McLaughlin the '29 Buick guru, you might post your question on the pre-war Buick page.
  13. Pat, It seems that you will be ready for the first cruise night of the season !
  14. RedVac, If your safety is your primary concern, your daily driver should have lap and shoulder belts, airbags, a collapsable steering column, ABS and four wheel disc brakes. Your other driver should match your desires. I travel on the busiest highway in North America in both my daily driver and my '70 Cutlass rag. I certainly drive much differently in the Cutlass due to it's stopping distance and the amount of occupant protection. This is not a reflection of the mechanical state of the Cutlass or my driving abilities, but an honest assesment of risk exposure. By the way, I'm a traffic safety professional. Please excuse my "preaching"......it's somewhat natural.
  15. The '36 and '37 Cord dash is also beautiful in the daylight and spectacular at night, with both an engine turned panel and reostat controlled dash lamps.
  16. You will likely be better off financially if you spent a few weeks putting the car back together.
  17. The Craven Foundation (CF) in Toronto had a few authentic models. That collect was closed in the 1980's and the model Bugatti's were purchased by someone in France. Sorry I don't have any photos. I do remember the full page ad in Hemings when these models were advertised for sale. I'll likely see the past curator of the CF over the next few weeks and I will ask for some details for you.
  18. Pat, If you know of a way for Canadians to order from McMaster Carr, would you mind sharing ? Thanks, Mike
  19. John, Hoping you have a speedy recovery. Don't let anyone mess with your sense of humor...............it's just fine !
  20. James, You might take the '54 to your local cruise night. There is one in almost every corner of the Province. With the number of collector cars loaded onto Kijiji and Craigslist daily, you mkigh save a bunch of time taking the car to a cruise night. Perhaps you can find a Cruise Night close by from the following link: Cruise Nights in Canada - Lant Insurance
  21. Not an Auburn. It looks like a '35 Buick.
  22. Pat Curran was at least the 5th Canadian owner.
