  1. Of all the shade tree repairs I've done on my various TC's (brake jobs, cover gaskets, odometer gears), replacing the wiper bushings was the TOUGHEST! The bushings are cheap and readily available, but pay someone else to do the job.
  2. Not sure if this is everything, but mine has the sound system booklet and cassette, air bag tri-fold glossy, top operation & storage booklet, customer arbitration board booklet, Michelin tire warranty booklet, owner name change form, owner's plaque form & envelope and a crystal key. My California car has a California Air Resources Board booklet. There is also a very classy pen & pencil set, but I'm not sure if this was a Chrysler item or TC specific.
  3. While the agenda has some topics I am very interested in, my wife has some medical appointments scheduled during that time, so obviously my priorities are here.
  4. I replaced original, leaking front struts with KYBs on one of my 16v cars. Even though the rears were also original I left them in as they did not SEEM to be exhibiting any signs of undue wear. This was a mistake as under spirited driving the rear tires rubbed. If you go the same route, no pun intended, be prepared to also do the rears. Anyone interested in track/autocross use should go to coilovers which work very well, but are not worth the extra $ for street use.
  5. Thoroughly enjoyed your narrative! Good thing you had the presence of mind not to panic. Years ago I looked at a TC that was for sale at a reasonable price about 90 miles away. I met the owner at his storage facility and since it looked like a heavy rain was coming I took the car for a drive before examining it. The TC drove fine so we parked it back in his space and I began checking it over and under. When I poked at a small nest by the accumulator, a bunch of black widow spiders scurried out! I hope both he, and you, have found a different place to keep your car.
  6. Worn bearings in the strut bearing plate can also cause that phenomenon.

  12. Sorry to start a new topic, but I was not able to post this as a reply to Reeper. I just replaced the outer left side cv boot on my 1990 16V car with a NAPA part which fit perfectly: 686-2285. I think both years are the same but I'm not sure.
  13. When the speedo was not working, did the car run poorly and then run fine when it started working?
  14. Before doing that make sure the top is NOT latched at the windshield. Run the mechanism at the rear as you normally would, then latch at the windshield.
  15. I'm assuming you literally have water with no coolant as a heater core would be a likely, and very ugly culprit if your liquid contained anti=freeze. My best guess is a problem with the AC drain - hose disconnected, plugged, maybe a hole, something like that. Remember the AC turns on with the defroster, so you would not have to deliberately turn on the AC to have this happen. Good luck.
  16. I'm also a member of the Mobil-1 club and use it with no problem in 4 of my 5 16v cars, one of which I do race. My early 89 car leaks synthetic oil, but not non-synthetic of the same viscosity. I'm getting ready to install a very high horsepower engine in one of the other TC's and will go with Mobil-1 once the break-in is completed.
  17. This has been on Ebay for months, which indicates the price wth shipping ($215) is too high. Also, if you look carefully there appears to be some damage to the tail light panel. These usually sell in the $125 - $150 range.
  18. I'm not a tech guy, but my guess is one or more vacuum leaks. If you find one leak, don't congratulate yourself until you find the others. Another candidate is the throttle position sensor. If the speedo needle works intermittently or bounces around it might be a speed sensor. Could also be a combination of of these. It does NOT sound like an ECU problem. Good luck and Welcome!
  19. It is possible that your cable is loose at either the shifter or the tranny. These clutches are quite robust - I have been rather enthusiastic with my shifting at times and have never had a clutch problem.
  20. The 89 and 90 16v radiators are different. I needed a radiator for my 90, but the radiator from my 89 parts car was not even close. I found a good radiator repair shop about 40 miles away and paid the guy his price to have mine recored - not cheap, but it's held up for over 10 years. Since only 113 90's were made, this is a rare part. Even if you were to find a junked 90 16v TC, the odds of the radiator being ok are about as close to zero as you can get. My advice is to get your old one repaired by an expert. Parts for a recore are not an issue, but finding a craftsperson might take some time.
  21. I also only use ethanol-free fuel in my TC's and other toys. I have a hemi 2008 Grand Cherokee that runs fine on unleaded 89 octane, but anything other than ethanol-free gas immediately (within a mile) triggers 3 double obd codes - all related to O2 sensors. I think some GM vehicles can be reprogrammed to account for ethanol, not sure about Mopars. If anyone knows how to do this I's appreciate the info. A friend has a small engine repair shop and he says every spring he's bombarded with gummed up mowers and every fall it's gummed up snowblowers. I'm one of those people who try to run them dry, even with ethanol free fuel. Cars are a different story as it's just not practical to run them dry and I don't want the gas tank seams to dry out so I use an enzyme-based fuel stabilizer, Startron, as it does not attract moisture. Here in upstate New York I park my cars in the barn when the salt flies and don't bring them out until we've had at least a couple of heavy rains in the spring meaning they usually sit for at least 5 months. So far no fuel problems on restarts.

There are a LOT of red flags; only 1 picture and it's old, generic TC info with very little about this car, a starting bid of $5,000 (which at least means the seller has one close friend) and enough disclaimers to cover the seller in any dispute (as the auctioneers like to say, "you buy it As Is and find a big problem, guess what, it's still yours).
  23. I finally found a set of new 20" wheels & tires for my Ram. Being a guy, coming back with a larger vehicle or making two trips were not options.
  24. A hopefully helpful hint; the TC battery cables are not flexible and will try to revert to their original positions which can not only make battery removal & installation more difficult, but also cause sparking when installing the new battery. Just wrap each terminal with some plastic and use anything from a bungee cord to plain old string to tie them out of the way until you have the new battery in and are ready to reconnect.
