  1. Might be interested....I have two TCs that just went hard-pedal on me... :( Trying to get myself educated on the causes/fixes . One had a blown fuse, the the other was fine....so it looks like two battles?!?! lol PM me with details on what you are looking for $$ :D thanks MB
  2. IT WORKS!! Found a replacement dash for cheap. The odometer gear was broken so while swapping out the good gear from my original speedo, I swapped out the odometer as well so my car still has the original odometer and correct miles thanks for the help Digger914 with the leads for junkyards with parts!!
  3. Having a biotch of a time getting replies from repair shops (even TC parts) on whether or not they can work on this speedometer... Hemi Dude, is there a particular year Daytona speedometer head to use?? Cross reference data on Ebay says no fit ( although I trust your judgement more than Ebay! )
  4. Would you happen to have a speedometer head?? How much for the soft top?
  5. Thanks for the replies. Any leads on where I can find a replacement head from a TC (preferably) or a Daytona??
  6. My 89 (204316) has a Black soft top, looks to be original... 204316 1989 Jul-89 Royal Cabernet Bordeaux Tan SOHC
  7. Replaced the distance sensor, verified power to the speedo (again) and continuity from the sensor plug to the pin on the dash as well as the ground wire from the sensor plug...all checks good Made sure I had good contact on the 3 pins into back of the speedometer cluster and still no speedometer... Do I have to replace the speedometer itself?! A quick search of the world wide web shows nada for such a beast. All connections look solid upon close inspection...
  8. Am I correct in assuming that when I replace the distance sensor I should place the speedometer pinion in to ensure the gears mesh/align, then put the new sensor in. Or Should I put the sensor and pinion in as a unit?
  9. Hi Folks, the Bohemian is back after (what appears to be ) a 6 year hiatus....life got busy, spent some time rebuilding the brake and fuel line on the 90 TC, got busy with my motorcycle modifications and customizing. Then we sold our house two years ago, built a new home while living in a 2 bdrm apt with our two Border collies. Moved in to the house last December and have spent the last eight months on finishing some of the basement, landscaping and building a pole barn. FINALLY getting around to working on the 89 TC and this speedo problem. Checked the distance sensor, not much going on in the way of grease/oil. Pulled and reset the plug, no help, still no speedo. Pulled the speedo and checked for voltage on the pins - checks good, so I'm down to checking the continuity of the distance sensor cable and then trying to figure out what the "Powertrain Diagnostics Test Procedure" is....So two questions... 1) Can anyone help with which pin on the transaxle end of the distance sensor cable I should check with the pin on the speedo cluster? 2) Do anyone know how to test if the speed sensor is bad...?? Thanks guys.....It's good to be back
  10. My apologies Damn, what with packing and moving and working the Holiday, I almost forgot about the pics.... Let me know if this looks like it would work for you. If it does, give me your zip code and I can figure out what the shipping would be for the whole assembly vs just the window. thanks, MB
  11. Let me check the condition of the weather strip and I'll take a pic and post it tomorrow. The other issue would be removing the strip without damaging it...first things first though... let me check it out tomorrow and post info here...
  12. I have a passenger side window, and a passenger side quarter window assembly. Free, you just pay for shipping from 49404. Not sure if the motor works on the rear quarter, and there might be a few wear scratches on door window. If anyone is interested I can take some pics and email them.
  13. Wow.. thanks Hemi. That's VERY generous, but I think we may have found an affordable solution. Just been so busy with everything else, I haven't had a chance to post anything here. Found a place where we should be able to store both cars for about $60/month... Just gotta get them out there...
  14. Ok guys and gals, many of you may know/remember me from my posts in years past. Have not been on here much lately. Like the title says, my TC's are for sale. We have sold our home and I have no where to store them until we build in the spring, I have my 90 white'black/black. Runs great, just replaced all the brake lines (everything) from the calipers up to the MC. Also replaced all the fuel lines. Odometer says 159k but has not been working since i bought the car about 10yrs ago. I put less than 1000 miles per yer in the first 5 yrs, then virtually none in the last 5 d/t the rusted brake lines. Has a new gas tank and sending unit, and I will be replacing the fuel pump in the tank this week. The interior is GREAT, some wear on the drivers seat but not bad at all. It also has a killer stereo system that i installed (see this thread) Has a 2 or 3 small (dime size) rust spots begining to bubble up. $2800 Can email more pics if interested. Then I have a 1989 4cyl turbo. Burgundy/Cabernet/black. Clean clean!! no rust anywhere. Less than 60k original , odometer stopped working this summer (grrrr) put less than 100 mile on this year. Everything on the interior is clean and sharp Everything is stock, the ONLY thing wrong is a small hole in the convertible roof from mice last winter (double grrrr) $5000, contact me for additional pics if interested. Both vehicles have the umbrella, tool kit and service manual. Located near Grand rapids MI. Message me for contact info if interested.... It's bittersweet, we finally will be able to build our retirement home, but need to decrease our spatial footprint for 6mo or so...We looked into storage, but between the needed space and the cost of renting, we would be outspending our current monthly expenses. Oh well, gotta make sacrifices, right
  15. Just realized I never gave the final update on this project Passenger side was pretty much a breeze too. I ended up putting a temporary plug in the splitter that feeds the rear passenger side. Then I took the car to a guy that prefers working on older cars, since he said he could drop the gas tank and install the brake line for around $100.....nothing is ever that easy and cheap...right? Got a call that my tank had a leak, fortunately I was able to source a local new replacement, and with new used tank straps from Larry-the-life-saver I was finally back on the road (with a somewhat lighter wallet ) Far more work than I had anticipated, but at least now I know all the lines are solid and should outlive the rest of the car
  16. I am Hemi. The last part was just a small segment of a post on Facebook Here's the full post God is so cool...He can use the most mundane series of events to teach and bless... (long story warning, now's your chance to bail out grin emoticon ) So you decided to keep reading eh? lol So Monday (Labor Day)we drove my TC to Sheridan to visit some friends, got home about 7:30 pm and parked the car. Went to move the car this Saturday...couldn't find the keys. Now, we're pretty good about putting the keys in one of two places; on the island counter top, or on a couple hooks under one of the cupboards...nada. We tore this house apart Saturday. Every coat pocket of every coat, every drawer, cupboard, closet, nook and cranny was cleaned,re-arranged, cleared or inspected...Upstairs AND downstairs. I searched the garage and the basement AND the other cars...3 hours on Saturday, zilch! Then again on Sunday another hour of more looking. Now keep in mind that by this time Blanca and I are searching areas the other has already searched, along with asking each other..'Did you look here..or did you look in ___ ?" Normally by this point, I'm pretty....let's just say, 'upset'. But I kept things in check pretty well. I got a little testy a couple times, but we made it through the weekend, unscathed for the most part, and I resolved myself to pulling the ignition, door and trunk locks to get keys made. Today on the way home I had my usual discussion with God about my day, the people I care for at work, the morons driving in front of me..lol Then I just mentioned that I could use some help finding those keys.... I pull in the drive to see that Blanca has put up the mole trap in the yard with the spikes down (instead of up, in the triggered position) Silly girl..lol. I grab the trap and move it to a new location and set it and start walking toward the house. I take 3 steps and see something shiny and half buried in the grass the keys!! BLESS THE LORT (as Blanca would say ) Now the cynic would say, "dumb luck". The Buddhist would say "Karma". I say... God knows me, and he knows that it's in the little things, the stupid, don't mean a pinch of dirt and you'll forget about it next week things, that mean the most to me. It like a little post-it, "Good job on that challenge. Oh, that little afterthought prayer...done" To me it's an affirmation, God's way of confirming, in the midst of the chaos and challenges that are life, "You're right on track, right where you should be, and headed right to where I want you to be." Some might say I read WAY too much into simple things...maybe, but then again, maybe not...selah
  17. Well... after careful consideration of all the options, time and cost involved, I decided to take Digger's original suggestion! LOL Quite by accident, or more likely Divine Providence! Got home from work today, as I pull in the drive I see that Blanca (my wife) has put up the mole trap in the yard with the spikes down (instead of up, in the triggered position) Silly girl..lol. I grab the trap and move it to a new location and set it and start walking toward the house. I take 3 steps and see something shiny and half buried in the grass.... the keys!! What a relief!! First thing after work tomorrow, a new set of keys which go onto my Master-spare key chain!!
  18. Thanks guys. Our house has had every drawer, cupboard, closet, nook, cranny cleaned/cleared/inspected with no luck. I have even expanded the search to our daily drivers and the garage...nada. Hoping the vin# with work, as I have none of the original paperwork or manuals. If the vin# is a no-go, I'll pull the door lock and take it to a locksmith. Thr trunk my become an issue as my trunk release doesn't work at this time...first things first I guess..
  19. Drove the TC on the Labor day weekend, went to go for a ride yersterday... can't find the keys anywhere! Turned the house inside out with no luck. Is there a simple way to get new keys recut or am I looking at replacing the ignition and trunk/door locks..
  20. Lower Michigan is kind of a big place.... can you be a little more specific. There's a guy in Grand Rapids that has worked on my 90' and my father's 91....
  21. Great! Thanks Hemi! I knew I would find someone who knew what this was. It is now tucked safely away..
