Fortunately Buick took care of part of this for us. If you feel along the front wheel lip at about 10:30 and 1:30, you will feel a small relief in the wheel lip of the fender and inner fender. However, the stainless wheelwell trim is not relieved in the same location. The inner lip of this trim is a consistent 5/8" wide. I relieved the inner flange of the stainless trim in these two locations to take advantage of the two factory reliefs on each side and have not had any fender wheelwell rubbing on my bagged car since. Still will rub the frame behind the tire, but only when turned to full lock.

Scott, if your car has AC, there are no replacements. Replacements on the market at this time fit non AC cars only. They don't tell you that, but the nipples are longer on the AC heater core. Best advice either way is to get your old one recored. Take it to a competant radiator shop and have a new core added to your existing ends. That way you know it fits.

Tony has a good point. Much of what you've already removed to replace the carpet has to also be removed to replace the heater core. If needed, you are about 3/4 of the way there already.
-
So Tony, you now have the only 70 Riviera without skirts. so does that make it a step child's step child?

If you really don't care which of the two you buy, you are a rare car guy. Most people have their minds made up one way or the other. For most there is no choice, it is one way or the other. Been said here before, you don't build a Riv for resale value. If is isn't a labor of love, don't bother. Your car, your choice. Choose what makes you happy and go for it.
I agree with Ed. I have seen lots of cars done right, both stock and custom. And a lot with plenty of corners cut, both stock and custom. Again, choose what you want and don't worry about what others think..

And what was going on ?
Whitewatersky used a picture of my Riv in his post. Pinched my pic, as he says.

When reading posts here, I tend to look at the pictures first, then read the report that goes along with them. As I paged down, I thought, hey, that is the same radio I have, and his console has the upper right corner busted just like mine. Then I saw the key ring and knew what was going on. Glad you could make use of it. Should help others down the line. And that is the whole point.

I think this is a computer controller transmission. Based on the description, something (likely computer) is getting too warm after 30 minutes and causing trouble. I think this is an electronic issue, not a mechanical one.

Aaron, article says you shaved the door handles and trunk, but pictures still show these items on the car. What gives? Did you put these back on when you painted the car, and if so, why?

Was the guy even a member of the ROA? You do not have to be to view, post, or participate in any way in this forum. Not sure what the ROA as an organization could have investigated. I understand the rules and reasons for them, but sometimes there needs to be an exception. This was one of those times.

Car has a Texas plate on it. Profile doesn't say where he is from.

Picture shows a passinger side with a place for a power window switch and a power vent switch. Three possibilies for this side, custom interior with no power window, with power door window only, or with both power door and vent as this one is. Same combinations for the drivers side, but add power seats to the mix for more combinations.
First picture below shows a 63 with power windows only. No power seat, no power vents.
Second picture shows a 64 with power seat and power windows, but no power vents.
Third picture shows a passinger side 63 with both power window and vent as you pictured.
Fourth picture show a 64 with power seats, door window and vent.
All the same but all different. 63, 64, and 65 will interchange with each other, and maybe that is the answer you were looking for. Hope this helps.

One of my favorite mags. One of the few that feature a Riv about once a year. Congrats! Well deserved, indeed.

As the heater core in a 63 is in the middle right above the transmission tunnel, wet on both sides is probable. Looping the heater hoses is a quick solution. remove both hoses from the heater and loop them from the two ends from the motor with a single hose. No coolant to the core to leak that way.

These are also known as Daisy Wheels. Introduced in 67 or 68, been on a lot of hot rods over the years. Old ones had painted centers only. Polished was introduced in the 90s. Here is the link; Newstalgia Wheel, American Racing Wheels, Boyd Coddington Wheels, Billet Vintiques, Colorado Custom Wheels, Cragar Wheels, Bonspeed Wheels, Foose Wheels, Radir Wheels, TQ Chrome

These are Ameriican Racing 200S polished wheels. Go to newstalgiawheel.com can't do a link from my iPad in the airport, but can get you one later today when I get home. These guys will work with you and can make complete wheel and tire packages delivered to your door. Check them out on the web or give them a call.

Another problem area for these cars is the heater core. Seats, console and most of the dash have to come out to replace it. Might want to check that as well. The A/C isn't a big deal if all the parts are still there. Tranny may be a front seal or simply a bad o-ring in the filler tube. Plan for the worst and offer accordingly. I think BB is pretty close on his $8000 estimate.

Danny, welcome. Guys here like more info and pictures. We love pictures. Where are you from. Somethimes the answer you get will vary based on where you live.
Lots of factors to consider on these cars with big wheels and bags. But can be done. Do a search in this forum, as both have been discussed here. If you can't find these, ask and we will hunt them up for you or answer again. Again, welcome.

Bob, I used the '64 adapter to put the Grant wheel on my '63. You will need the roll pin out of your old wheel, but the '64 adapter works fine.

I have a 1965 Missouri plate on my Riv. In Missouri you can use an older plate if the number is not in use. It is treated as a historic plate and doesn't need to renewed. And no front plate is needed. Pretty cool deal.
Similar to the deal in Oklahoma. It is considered a Vanity Plate. But you still have to buy and update a regular current Oklahoma tag and keep it in the vehicle at all times. In the trunk or glove box is OK, but has to be with the vehicle.

Should have pulled the ad and started over. The part he has now added contradicts almost everything he says in the first part.
Jason sold this a few years and miles ago for $12,500. Now it is at $16,100 with the reserve not met. Whole new class of buyers for this car now, as those wanting a 40K mi original are long gone.

My bags are all from Ride Tech, or Air Ride Technologies. I put the complete system on, with shocks and bags on the rear and shockwaves in the front.
