  1. I've been checkin' the fluid levels regularly and everything seems to be good. It isn't using oil or water and the oil looks clean. When the car started smoking, it had been sitting about two weeks while I was on a trip. The smoke was hazy white. It was not heavy, but it was constant. When hitting the accelerator it would smoke up big sometimes with a bit of black. I've put some lucas oil in it and have run it at least every other day for at least 15 minutes. The smoke has almost stopped, but on occasion it'll smoke hazy white when hitting the accelerator. Is this something I just need to watch or could there be a gremlin waiting to detonate? Thanks
  2. By the way, the 56 radiator slid right in. It's been workin' great.
  3. Hello All, I have a 55 Special with a 264 nailhead. I've been drivin' it for about 6 weeks, and it recently started smoking a bit. It is especially bad after it sits for a couple days. It has been white smoke that is fairly constant, but very noticable when revving it up. Any ideas on what is causing this, and how to fix it? Thanks, Travis Johnson
  4. Hello all, I recently had to pull the radiator on my 55 special and thought it odd that there were no transmission cooling lines on it. Should there be? I didn't see any lines coming up from the trans either. Also, my radiator was junk so I've pulled one from a 56 special. It looks like it'll bolt right in, but it has the tranny cool lines. Does any one know what is goin' on here? Thanks, Travis Johnson
  5. hello all, if you haven't seen the posting on the aaca buy/sell forum this is a head's up about a scammer hitting the bca forum as well. I've gotten an e-mail from a DEAN TAYLOR with an e-mail account of deantaylor_3@yahoo.com and the following number 206-984-1840. The number is for a fax machine. When he called my cell-phone it would not display the number. I told him I won't sell the car without an address and name of the shipping company. He gave an address of 23 EAST FIRETOWER.SEATTLE,WA..98145... Which did not exist when I mapquested it. The shipping company name was divine dynamics which doesn't exist in the US. I googled it and checked seatle phone directory online. I told him I wouldn't sell him the car. He then sent a message yesterday saying payment was on the way by DHL and gave a tracking number. When I checked the DHL site, the name sending the package was VIC MAYSE of Naperville, IL. Apparently this guy is contacting people about their posts and sending checks from various address with other names on the checks. I just recieved a torn check from a bca member in texas. I call him and confirmed that he had been contacted by this same Dean Taylor who used my address to send a phony check from Golden Star Resources LTD. in Littleton, CO. Beware of scams where people are sending more than you are asking for or wanting you to pay for shipping. If they are unwilling to give an address or name of the companies they ship with, this is a good indication something is up. If your are not sure, you can always google the company name or use the online white pages to confirm an address. Don't do business with Dean Taylor!
  6. I am also interested in trading for a station wagon of 50's or 60's vintage. Prefer skylark model. I've also got a 55 buick special two-door hardtop that I am will to sell or trade. All the mechanicals have been gone through and it rides well. Body is straight, but will need new floors. Great little rat rod. Asking $2500 for it.
  7. Hello all, I've gotten a similar e-mail from a DEAN TAYLOR with an e-mail account of deantaylor_3@yahoo.com and the following number 206-984-1840. The same as above. Hope this gives a better heads-up of what to look for with these details.
  8. Would you be interested in an entire car? I have a 55 special two door hardtop with good fenders and trim. It runs and drives, but is in need of floors. I was going rat rod with it, but it is turning into too much of a project right now. e-mail guidingthefuture@yahoo.com Thanks, Travis Johnson
  9. I am interested in partial trades. I would like to get $3000 plus a decent driver. Prefer a 2-door of 55 vintage.
  10. I am interested in partial trades. I would like to get about $3000 plus a decent driver.
  11. I've owned the car for about three years. In that time the car has been garage kept, washed and buffed regularly, and driven regularly. I've had to replace some stuff, but that is natural for a 44 year old vehicle. Items I've replaced: new muffler and exhaust pipes new brake shoes rebuilt alternator rebuilt starter rebuilt the carb tune up every spring This car is in good shape and a great driver. I bought it in my first year out of college and am selling for multiple reasons: getting married next spring, wanting to pay off my '04 ranger, needing funds for a project car, etc. Wish I was rich enough to keep her cause I've had a blast dropping the top and hittin' the road.
  12. 1963 Buick Skylark Convertible Original 215 aluminum V-8 with two barrel carb and dual path automatic transmission. Car runs and drives great. Body is in good shape.
