  3. Ill be there,im looking for some 37 Caddy parts, mainly running board parts.Want a set i can recover, also need some of the chrome trim for them too, mine is a 60 series.First time going so i dont know what to expect?.I also collect car models, anyone there have them?,its hit and miss sometimes for them. harvey
  4. Nothing worse then driving an unknown old car home, not too bad if its a local one from your town, but one you had to travel 200 miles to get to.Been there and done that, now too old for that. And it doesnt matter how much you paid for it,cost has absolutely no bearing on its reliability. harvey
  5. Thanks mike,i think we will end up staying at the "dry" camping area at hershey, when i factor in the 20.00 a day for parking plus it is very handy to the gate,it doesnt look all that bad.My biggest reason is i dont like to get in the lineups to get in off the highway and the slow pace in the mornings, this way i can head back to rest if i want and dont have to worry about parking and pedestrians too.My first trip so i dont know my way around yet. harvey
  6. Thanks mike ive been to Carlisle and the AACA show in Charlotte.I kind of have an idea as to what to epect, but Hershey has been on my bucket list for years and its now time to go.Hoping when i get there ill be able to find someplace to crash, sometimes stay at Cracker Barrels and Walmarts too.Must be my cheap scottish blood i have😁.Looking forward to it no matter what. harvey
  7. Im from Canada and we have been driving in PA and neighbouring states and have never been charged,my province only has 1 plate on our vehicles?been 2 years now and never any bills,i do stop and pay at the stations where you have to stop?. hoping it still works on my next trip😀
  8. Heading to hershey this year, missed it last year due to a hurricane that blew through my provinc, spent 16 days home here without power?.Hoping it wont happen again this year,Have a van we stay in and am self sufficent that way, anyone else try boondocking in some of the parking lots, are you allowed to just park overnite or will i be told to move?,Is the rv parking by the night or do i pay for the whole week even if i leave after 2 days, only have a couple of days to spend there?.First time there, dont know my way around yet?. Any tips would be helpful. harvey
  9. I have a Lanair used oil furrnace,it was the best thing i ever bought,i heat a 30x50 shop with 10 foot ceilings.I burn between 600-800 gallons of oil each year,i ran a bodyshop and dont generate my own oil,i placed an ad on kijiji and i now have a bunch of regular customers that give me the oil for free, all i have to do is go and get it,it does take a bit of work to get it,but here today furnace oil is 1.87 a litre?,if i was buying furnace oil it would cost me between 5 and 7000 dollars,i have too many scottish ancestors to do that.🤑.Lanair makes a smaller heater for "hobby' guys,i definetly recommend them, great company to deal with and the heaters are very reliable. harvey
  10. Thanks everyone, lots of good ideas to think about. We have found a place to stay, using our airmiles?.planning on wednesday and thursday, hoping it doesnt rain,is Saturday a busy day or is everyone packed up?.I most likely wont be there on saturday anyway. Harvey
  11. I recommend YNZ, they did the harness in my 37 Cadillac,it fit like it was NOS.I could not get over how nice it fit in there,it was a cloth wire harness.Been in 12 years and no problems at all. Harvey
  12. Am thinking about heading to the spring show at Carlisle, coming from eastern Canada, wondering if anyone has any tips on where to stay, best gate to enter at,where to park.etc.Have been there 25 years ago but have forgot most of it since.Am planning to get there for wednesday, the first day and propably do thursday and head back.Am looking for an inexpensive place to stay, but not a cheap place . Thanks Harvey
  13. Somebody had way too much time on their hands.🤓
  14. Well, did you sell it?.Dont leave us hanging like that.😁
  15. I dont know if the switches are rebuildable?.They are a pain to work on,they have 12 or 13 wires on them and they all have a specific place to go.It is harder with the original wiring too,as it is not color coded like new cars,it all looks the same🥵.They have a wonky type of connecter where the wires join at the taillite harness too, check that first. There is one on ebay, here is the link for it,not mine just one i seen. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1937-CADILLAC-LASALLE-ORIGINAL-HEADLIGHT-SWITCH-PARKING-INTERIOR-DASH-LAMPS/313239593209?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 Good Luck
  16. Its possible the wiring issue is related to the headlight switch,as they have the 3 settings?,make sure the rod is pulled out to the spot you want,it is possible for it to be "stuck" between 2 of them.Play around with that on the switch and see if that helps. The switch is a one year only item🤑,they do pop up on ebay from time to time.if yours has the original wiring it could be shorting someplace?,it is really delicate,so be careful if you dig into it. Harvey
  17. Great looking car,you are lucky to find one like that,I have one too, only mine is a 60 series, the same but completely different😉.I restored mine 12 years ago,it was forgotten project when i got it,brought it home in boxes, they are a great driving car,it amazes me how it will keep up to traffic, must have been something when they were new.Mine is all original, even has the original motor, all numbers match?. Also have a 38 90 series,it is a unrestored original,it runs and drives as well,it does handle better then the 37,it is a V16 car,no plans to restore it,just want to try and preserve it for now.Harvey
  18. Hi there,is this truck still for sale. Thanks Harvey
  19. Hi jim,i had a similar problem on my 37 caddy, very similar style front end.what i had was a worn support, this is the peice that goes from the upper and lower control arm,the steering knuckle or spindle attach to it,the kingpin goes through it,what happened was the hole was worn, propably from the pin being loose?,these are not easily repaired and replacement is required, they do pop up in ebay from time to time, you might be able to drive the pin in further and take up some of the slack,i havent replaced mine yet so i cant tell you how big a job it will be,but be prepared to replace some other parts as well?if it is the bushings in the knucke that are bad,you could take the assembly to a shop and have them installed and reamed, the support peice does not have any bushings in it,as for alignment, look for a man who has a lot of experience, look for an old guy with grey or no hair?.these cars are quite easy to do. HTH Harvey b
  20. Hi there,i had a similar problem when i rewired a 37 cadillac,it acted like your car,had the generator rebuilt,a couple of regulators were tried to no avail,it drove me nuts for 2 summers, could not shut the car off anyplace as it did not have enough juice to start after running for a while, battery was slowly wearing down, the last time i had the regulator and generator set up,the mechanic gave me a little drawing as to how it should be hooked up,what i had was different then his drawing, all my charged up juice was going no place,i had to switch my load and feild wires,it was the wire from the generator had lots of current, just no place for it to go to?it was a couple of years ago and my memory isnt great, and i cant put it into words what i am getting at,i think if you understand what i am trying to say,you might try this in your next step?,i had lots of current,it wasnt getting to the battery like it was supposed to,i was lucky to find a mechanic that knew how to setup the old system for me,ever since then the car charges great and is reliable to boot.HTH Harvey B
  21. Hi there, thanks for the replies,i live in eastern canada, there isnt a lot of trailer dealers up here, unless i want to travel 1000 miles or so.another question i have is how to tell a good trailer from a cheaply made one, they all look great when they are new and shiny?,is a one peice side panel better then the multi-peice panels, the rear ramp door, what to look for there, axles and wiring what should i look at?,I do have champagne tastes with a beer budget,i can live with some shortcomings however.I just want good value for my money.is there anything i should avoid on a trailer, seems to be a few here that have been imported from florida area that were used to move stuff here, now they are selling them to recover their costs, these are 2010 models, different makes, but similar to what i want, any tips are welcome. thanks Harvey b
  22. Hi there,i am looking at buying a enclosed trailer for moving my cars around in,am looking at a 24 foot trailer, anyone have any advice as to what is a better type,am looking at a frame hitch,or a 5th wheel type,is one better than the other,as for stability or control,am only going to use it maybe 2 or 3 times a year, will be used for storage the rest of the time, also what type of hitch should i get, torsion bar or trunion?,i have jist started to look at trailers and am unsure exactly what i need, just looking for some advice.want at least a 24 foot body to ensure i have enough room.am planning to haul it with a 2007 Dodge 4x4 1/2 ton,5.7 motor, was told it will have enough power, only planning to tow a couple of times a year?.Thanks Harvey b
  23. Hello There,I think that places that sell boats would have them,i would shop around as prices and sizes will vary, some of the bigger hardware stores might have them too.you could even try a flea market for a used one. HTH Harvey B
  24. looking for the 2 headlight chrome rings to fit a 37 caddy 60 series, lasalle of the same year will fit,not sure about the larger series cars,do think they will work,i have the lenses and reflectors.looking for these to complete my car. any help is appreciated. Harvey B
  25. Hello Adam,i would go for it,i run a bodyshop myself i cant compete with maaco's prices. Also you should be able to work with the shop as to remove the trim and bumpers, talk to the manager first and see if they are willing to do this.you should be able to get a decent job at a good price, As Maacos painters are pretty good at spraying.I would rather drive a car with a fair paint job,as opposed to parking it. Good Luck Harvey B
