  1. My 63' Electra is in need of a new carb. I get coupons from pep boys and the like for new edelbrock carbs. What CFM whould you suggest for a stock engine, auto trans. how much modifiying will I have to do to the linkage to get the transmission to work? Anyone put an edelbrock on their nailhead before? How do they work?
  2. Most people at parts stores look at me like I am nuts. Looking for such a thing online has left me nowhere also. any suggestions of where to get this stuff? Napa had no Idea. Is the temp sender on the block part of the Ignition system?
  3. I have no keys for my Electra. I have removed the glovebox lock and the only code I found was one letter and one Number. Is this all I need before ordering my keys? It just seems that there would be more digits. Thanks
  4. Where to I find some new resistor wire for my car? I'm looking for the wire that comes off the ignition switch and goes through the firewall and meets up with the black wire that leads to the coil. The original is in bad shape. Could this be the reason the car will not start with the ignition switch?
  5. None of these people carry them. I also need resistor wire, like the kind that goes to the coil. Who carries that?
  6. I'm having a ton of Difficulty finding that trim data plate, but I believe you are correct about the Sandalwood Color. I can see why the car was painted black at some time, as the sandalwood on White could have been a bit intense on the eye. The Perforated vinyl headliner was really well done also, so it looked quite stock to me. I actually think Buick Should have Gone with that as an option because It gives a better Sport feeling in my opinion than Cloth. Now I am not too sure what to do with the car. I wanted to keep it stock, but Knowing what SMS charges for their fabrics kind of puts me off a bit.
  7. The headliner is Perforated vinyl, It seems that if it was re-upholstered at some point, the person who did it was masterful. Even with the wear, something just seems factory about it. It's just not a car I could see someone redoing at any time but I could be wrong. Tomorrow I'm going to go get the trim codes off of it to see if that helps me at all. As for the Tu-tone, I was referring to Two color Upholstery. Something seems odd about a white on white car to me, but I will check.
  8. Here's some shots of what I have. It is like some velvety dimply stuff for the Inserts. The Samples from SMS look like yours (Great car BTW) The front is the same Material. My carpeted part on my door panels matches your area color wise as does my carpet. I doubt this is custom, but where would I get the fabric, and where do I find the Interior color code Info on the car? I have never seen another one 2 tone like mine Special order? I know Cadillac Has special option books but have no Idea if Buick did.
  9. I Recently ordered some Upholstery fabric samples from SMS for my 63' Electra 2 door. I ordered the samples mainly for the insert/ door panel fabrics. They Included Two different samples that do not match the original in the car. Three questions: 1. How Many different Insert fabric options were available for the Electra? 2. My Vinyl is perfect, could a good upholsterer remove the original covers, Replace the insert material in the original covers, do new foam on the seats and re-install the covers? Or would this compromise the structural integrity of the originals too much to make it worth it? 3. Does anyone here own a 63 electra 2 door with a front bench that could send me a couple of Interior pictures for some reference? Thanks
  10. What paint brand are you using for these parts? Looks great
  11. I have had surprising results from a place In Tijuana. I don't Know the Name, I just Know how to get to it. You need to enough spanish to explain to them that you want new chemicals in the tanks, and be willing to pay a bit extra for them to do so, but the guys at the shop take a ton of Pride in their work. I had my 1964 Alfa romeo Bumpers, Grille, Door Handles and a few other Misc. Brackets. Turnaround was about 2 weeks and It cost about $250 for all of the work but nothing needed straightening. They will do straightening if you need but can't say anything about the quality of that work.
  12. Does anyone make a replacement underhood wiring harness for a 63' Electra? I cant find any Info Online.
  13. Here it is. I should have posted a pic last night. The Rally Wheels were acceptable to Me Because I still have my grandma's Hubcaps I plan on putting them On Ebay soon. they are in good shape. I plan on keeping it my grandma had one when her and my grandpa first moved to California, so I plan on keeping it, Hers looked champagne pinkish in the picture I have seen but It could be the photo technology from the 60's. My grandpa never liked driving it because it was a woman's color and the minimal headroom for a car of the size made him feel cramped. Since It Isn't original, did Buick Ever Make Two Tone 63' Electras?
  14. I think "Work on" is a term I used too broadly. I should say "Inspected" I haven't done any actual work to the car yet due to the reason that I was afraid to Void any validity I had to my claim.
  15. The seller Would have had to be blind to not know this. Once you open the gas filler door, It becomes obvious that the paint wasn't original. looking at the areas around the Door Hinges It becomes even more Obvious. Anyway, I'm going to enjoy the car, and the repaint was pretty Nice. It was probably done about 25 years ago and done Right but Nonetheless, I planned on Entering the car in shows as an unrestored original, but this makes it so I cannot do so.
