  1. The original question asked has nothing to do with antique cars. It actually should be deleted for being so far off topic but I'm moving it to the Forum Questions and Answers section where it is more appropriate.
  2. If I remember correctly, the bulbs were installed at the factory with some kind of grease in the socket. It may have become hard over time, and might have got harder with the cold weather. I would use a hair dryer to warm the socket up some, and then carefully try to move the bulb around enough to get it to push in and twist so you can remove it.
  3. This is the tool I hate to know I'm going to have to use. By the time you drag it out you've already used most of the other tools from hell that have been mentioned.
  4. Before I read the text below the photo I thought she was checking messages on her cellphone.
  5. I think the Cadillacs Elvis gave away to friends and family would be worth more than the ones he bought for himself. It would be much cooler to be able to say, "Elvis gave me this car", than to say, "Elvis owned this car".
  6. Sounds like a bad spray pump in the carburetor to me.
  7. Manual chokes when out about the same time as wide white wall tires..
  8. That photo brings back old memories. I walked to the top of that mountain a couple of times back in the '70s. I lived in Conyers and worked in Atlanta for a while. We went to that park several times.
  9. I had a Vega. Bought it with a bad engine. I bought a kit and installed a Chevy small-block in it. I wanted it to be a sleeper so I kept it as stock looking as possible. The first time I drove it I hated it. It was like driving a tin can. I kept it for about a month after getting it in driving condition and traded it for a Monte Carlo. Below is a photo of it and my father taken on the day I traded it in.
  10. For riveting linings to brake shoes?
  11. No forum setting to increase text size on your phone. On your Samsung phone, go to Settings and select Display. Scroll down to Font Size and Style OR Screen Zoom. Make changes there to make the text larger.

  13. Could be as simple as air in the system. Air will cause any hydraulic system to whine. With the engine idling, and your foot on the brake, slowly move the shifter from drive to reverse - reverse to drive repeatedly for several minutes. If air is the problem that will get it out. Don't think the the converter failing is the problem because converters don't know what gear the transmission is in and they don't go bad when not is use.
  14. Interesting. Not saying it's not true, but I've never heard that before.
  15. Although the condenser won't keep the points from triggering the coil to fire, the points arcing will effect how the engine runs. I recall installing new points and condenser in my brother-in-law's Ford. When I started the engine it ran terrible and sometimes backfired. It took me a long time to figure out that I had connected the lead from the condenser to the points on the wrong side of an insulator washer so it wasn't making contact with the points. Basically it was doing nothing. I guess the points arcing was causing the coil to fire erratically. When I attached the condenser lead to the points correctly the engine ran smoothly. My point is the condenser does more than just keep the points contacts from pitting.
  16. Maybe this will change your mind. You can buy your very own aligning stud with the knurling on the end on Amazon, as well as numerous other places on the internet. There are many variations in the design. The knurling is to make it easy to grasp the stud to screw it back out after you have installed the bolts that hold the wheel on. 17. Temporary wheel studs to align wheels on a Mercedes that use bolts to hold the wheels on instead of lug nuts. It's hell to hold the wheels up and align the holes in the wheels with the threads in the hub without them.
  18. Awkward is an understatement. Mission impossible might be a better description. If you trust your "car guy" friend, you would be better off asking him to get it going for her.
  19. Just by having that attitude toward scammers you are setting yourself up to be scammed. In my opinion a smart person would never send you (or any other seller) their real driver's license just to get information about a vehicle.
  20. I appreciate this being brought back up again but this solution to the brake pad rattle is nothing new. It has been covered several times here, and on ROJ as far back as 2016. A little search of the forums would have revealed that. brake caliper rattle - Reatta Owners Journal Forum - Reatta Owners Journal Forums
  21. I like old trucks like those. Mine is a little newer. 2001 GMC. I drive it as often as I can.
  22. Get the big block. But even with a 496 I think your expectations are a little optimistic unless you are going to do a lot of suspension work and run slicks to make it hook up.
  23. The only substitute for cubic inches is cubic money.
