  1. Trini, More like pure dumb luck than talents & expertise!
  2. Auburnseeker, "Once burned - twice shy" Whatever works best for you! We all have our own way of trying to weed out the slugs. I guess the reason why EBAY was great in the beginning (I joined in 1999) was the fact that computers at that time period were NOT CHEAP! I am glad I got to experience the beginning....... Bill
  3. Thank you Rand for taking the time out and finding my carb! Keep being a vendor no matter how many slugs you come across. I will always call you first for my "Hard to find" parts! Bill
  4. Trini, I have purchased several cars on EBAY. All from very long distances. The secret here is to call the seller on the phone to get a "Feel" on the seller. Most of the time you can tell what type of person your dealing with in about 5 minutes. If I call the seller more than once and he starts getting irritated then I drop it immediately. A Slug Seller will not release his phone number or makes all kinds of excuses when questions are asked. Everybody here has bought and sold cars. y'all know what I'm talking about! Bill
  5. I have never had a problem on EBAY! All my customers have........... Sorry, we have to discontinue this post. The originator has been struck by lightening...............
  6. You stated the in-line filter is clear. Are you sure the fuel is flowing? Remove the coil wire completely and then disconnect the fuel line from the carb. Attach a 6' rubber fuel line hose to the line. Have someone crank the engine for you so you can see how the fuel flows. (Into a gas can of course) If it's a mechanical pump it will pulse flow. If it's electrical it should be a steady flow. One more thing, have you changed gas caps lately? Bill
  7. Yep Rusty, that happens to all of us! I have found that it's best to purchase during the Summer months because of less competition (Vacations and out camping, etc) and sell in the Fall, Winter, and Spring because everyone is at home with nothing to do but spend money! (December is the exception of course) Always end your auctions on Sunday nights and NEVER end it during a Football game!!!!!!! All this is in fun of course! Bill
  8. Tough one here. An engine needs 3 things to run. 1) Air - This is from the air cleaner to the valves. Can the engine breath? 2) Electricity - Spark to the plugs 3) Fuel - Did you set it up with an inline fuel filter? Your problem sounds like fuel filter or a spitting fuel pump. This is just a place to start. It could be a lot of different items! Keep us posted! Bill
  9. Looking for a carburetor for my 1925 Overland 4 cylinder. Anybody have one in a bucket under the workbench? Maybe attached to an engine? Thanks to everyone who reads this! Bill
  10. Sell it cheap = Car flipper Sell at market price = Car owner Does it really matter? If it does then whatever type of car it is try to join their group and sell within. This way you have a better chance of finding an "Owner" who is looking for your car. What's wrong with a car flipper? This individual cleans it up, details it, maybe new paint and rubber, and then someone purchases it.(Who now becomes the "Owner") Good luck Nick in whatever direction you go! Just my 2 cents with a dime thrown in........ Bill
  11. if'in it was me I would try to sell them whole as "Parts Cars". If no response I would take a few choice easy to ship items off to sell later and them haul the hulks to the scrapper. Definitely before the first snowfall......
  12. Can you post a photo? I might be interested! Bill
  13. Rick that's terrible! It's not like your car doesn't stand out. You would think people would be a little careful when near old cars. I hope it wasn't another Dodge brother or sister!
  14. Thank you for posting! It's almost like being there!
  15. I agree! When I go to an auction it's all eye contact. When the bid goes up I'm always wondering if it's the guy with the laptop from the auction company......... I hear it always brings in more cash and that's what it's all about. We will just have to deal with it.
  16. Mathew, Only time will tell...... Let me know what happens in about 50 years. I will only be 110. That is if I'm not shot by a jealous husband when I'm 100........
  17. Hello Nick! Unfortunately you need the Northeast 10786 Type TU. (6 Volt) I attached some photos. They are very elusive due to the pot metal crumbling.
  18. I see it's been a year and a half. Sometimes life gets in the way. Very nice job you are doing! I wish I had your "Stick To It" ability. Did you run your engine yet?
  19. Darn job! Gotta be in West Virginia that week. Have fun everyone! Looking forward to those photos! Update us every day........
