I've always wondered why Chevy didn't just mount the spare in the frunk - seems like the better weight distribution would be worth the loss of frunk storage capacity. Most VWs I've known have had the spare mounted up front. This looks like a great buy for someone - I'll admit I was tempted given its location.

Yes, a 5 speed stick would be cool. I think I read somewhere that over time the 5 speed had trouble with the torque of the V6, but I might be mistaken.

I always liked these, especially with the full glass roof. If it was closer, I'd be in trouble...

I agree! Excellent issue!!!

Wonder why they deleted the headrests when they recovered the seats. I like the color but the missing headrests makes it look incomplete IMHO.

Its a 74. I think it had a special options package that included the medium blue finish, Luxus trim and factory manual sunroof. I've owned it since 79.

I think this counts...had the Opel Manta out for a spin this afternoon and evening. It really perked up once the cobwebs cleared out. It hadn't really been driven for several months. I'll confess that it felt really good to get behind the wheel of the little blue Opel and let him spread his wings for a bit!

Ran around in the Sportwagon today. The weather was beautiful in the SF bay area, but not quite clear enough to see the Golden Gate from the east bay.

I agree with the opinions shared earlier in this thread - the 64-67 BOP A bodies are great drivers. I have a 65 Skylark Sportwagon Custom, and I enjoy driving it as much as my 65 Riviera and 61 Electra 225 - it is well balanced, peppy, and just all around fun. Mine has the 300 - 4bbl (Wildcat 355) and I updated my tranny to a TH350.

Very nice car!!! Love the 61s

I may be wrong, but I think the Wildcat was on a longer wheelbase than the LeSabre, beginning in 65. So my guess is that it wouldn't fit.

Pete, I may have one in my extra parts bin. I'll check and get back to you. Will probably be towards the end of the week before I will know, if that works for you.

looks like a 65!

I think it is the 300 - 4bbl, based on the "Wildcat 355" on the breather.

Took the 61 deuce out for a run this evening. Sometimes what you need is a little Buick therapy...hahaha

Raise your hand if you drove at least one old Buick this weekend

Had the 61 out for a short drive on Memorial Day. My dad, who served in the Air Force from 53 to 57 would have loved the ride, and this 225 is a tribute to the one that was his pride and joy through most of the 60s. A hearty thank you to all who have served.
