  1. Here is the link to the story: http://brianallmerradionetwork.wordpress...-carson-county/ Update: He did'nt say that the car flipped, guess he didnt want to worry us or does not remember. His back is broken in 5 places and he has a broken clavicle and arm and possibly a broken leg. The lady in the car with him was a family friend. I've ridden in that wagon and that thing did'nt seem safe. Jim is an excellent driver and has driven hundreds of thousands of miles. What they did not say, is that the moving truck was going at 80-90. The doctors said that they had never seen anyone survive with that many injuries. But, he conscious and can feel down to his feet and he is communicating normally. But, keep them in your thoughts and prayers, this is the time of year when they have a lot of gigs, so, it happened at a very bad time.

  3. Ok, I am 6'2'' and 190, I own a '21 Chevy and I fit ok! But, Model 'T''s were made the same all through their run from 19teens through the late 1920's with little modification. Keep to the original, if you find a good original, dont chop it or anything like that. Also, the original ones run decently. Buy one from the 20's when they began to put in electric starters. Chevy put in the electric starters in 1920 Ford didnt come to that until later. Model 'T' parts are easy to come by, I suggest that you buy a real 'T' and not a fiberglass kit car, also, buy a 4 door or roadster, not a bucket, the buckets are not safe and 6 foot people cannot fit in them! No original 'T' was built out of fiberglass. Your registration, depends where you live, but, mine for my '21 runs about 50 a year and insurance about 60 for full coverage classic car. You will not have any problems reselling it, since they are popular, but, dont buy one, so you can make a profit, buy it, because you like it. But, keep it with the original tooling and mechanical parts (eng., etc.) remember, these ARE NOT muscle cars and are just meant to cruise around.
  4. My good friend Jim Calhoun of Kansas and a Studebaker and classic car fanatic and contributor to the classic car community, (he owns over 25 studes) and a great man, was injured badly in a car accident today on the way to a music gig in Colorado possibly in one of his Studebakers (dont know yet, if it was one of the studes, but, that is what he drives mostly to gigs), the car is gone, and he is in the hospital and he had to be airlifted to a larger hospital near Colorado Springs, so, keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Here is their website so, you can e-mail them your best wishes: http://www.broadwaymusicco.com/calhouns.htm

  6. Well, the problem with my '21 is that the mileage gauge does not work, so, I just figure it out by how many hills I have driven and I do a rough estimate. But, it gets good mileage, because, unlike your '26 I think mine has more wood and is lighter. Also, I have to keep it filled because there is not a fuel pump so, if I try and go up hills, it will stall.
  7. As many of you know, I have a 1921 Chevy touring car with a 4cyl. It gets around well for it's age and gets excellent gas mileage with the 4cyl! Now, with modern upgrades such as juice brakes, and headlights, etc. should these cars be driven daily again? Considering excellent gas mileage? Would this be a better way to get to car shows considering the price of gas versus the gas guzzling muscle cars?
  8. What are your MPG's? How much do you drive them? what is the cost to fill up your classic in your area? here are mine: 1921 Chevy: sips gas uses about 4 gallons per month and I drive it around town quite a bit believe it or not!$14 to fill 1941 Dodge: 20MPG town $50 to fill 1948 Lincoln: 15MPG town about $65 to fill with premium 1966 Mustang: 20+ MPG town 25 HWY w/air cond. 1978 Lincoln Mark V: 12-15 MPG town 17HWY w/air about $60 to fill
  9. So, if they can make trash into black gold than why don't they do it? Also, about Colorado, if it is protected land, good luck trying to drill there. But, here is something that most everyone does not realize is: 1. 75% of the U.S. is off limits for exploration 2. Most of our oil comes from Canada not the middle east (the canadians are our #1 importer of oil) True, that there will be oil for our cars, but, if it is expensive, alot of people will just stay home. But, I won't! My 'stang gets superior gas mileage to the new cars, and it only costs me about 30-40 to fill from near empty to full, and that is in S. Ca! and it has all the modern stuff on it (air, etc.) The Dodge also gets good mileage. The MKV is improving as long as I dont put my foot on the gas, and the '21 does not use any!
  10. I hate to say this and it is going to sound negative but 40 years from now, there may be no gasoline or it might be $1000 a gallon. This will kill the hobby to the point of only seeing the cars stationary in a museum or garage, and there will be no more car shows, etc. It will reduce our cars to sentimental paper weights. Unless of course we are able to find an alternate way of powering our classics.
  11. Well, I dont know where the car is? But, I have been on that set at Paramount studios, I ate my lunch right there! The day I was there, they were filming a Honda comemercial. I was there, because, I was an extra for the next Star Trek movie, and I was going for my costume fitting. But, I met Nimoy a few months ago he is a nice guy:
  12. No, but, if I did have the money and alot to waste, I would have! Have you seen any other minor movie cars go for this, that were junk!
  13. Well, as long as the owner is driving, it should not make any difference, because, the people are like regular passengers, except with different clothes! We have a minumum insurance ammt here in CA.
  14. Well, that is a gray area, because my policy allows for 'leasure driving' and I can get up to unlimited mileage per year on my classic car policy. So, whatever 'leasure' means?
  15. What were the elec. cars from this time, a friend of mine had one that looked like a Panterra, just trying to put my finger on what it was.

  17. What has been your experience with this? either as a customer, etc. or have you known people who do this, etc. What are their experiences?
  18. In excellent condition! Still has the rubber boots on it and they are in excellent condition! Let me know if you are interested and we can work something out! I got it in a stash of other parts that I needed and mine does not have fluid drive!
  19. Do what we do in CA, RECALL 'EM! And then if you don't like the new ones, RECALL 'EM again!
  20. I am interested! I love them! Could you put them on a CD if you stop posting them? Maybe sell it? But, you would need a bunch. But they are cool!
