  1. Good point. I would go over the left side, maybe its not working as it should and bringing the attention to the right.
  2. Just a follow up , Installed the new switch. The car is happy ! 😁
  3. Great to see you had it on the road. A victory lap for sure !
  4. Good point! Yes I am concerned about judging. Thanks for the tip.
  5. Hi Mike , Thanks for sharing your story and the great pictures. Glad you are enjoying that beautiful Buick !
  6. Does someone know one way or another if the 1940 248 engine came from the factory with the Dynaflash lettering ? I thought it only came on the 320. I know you see a lot of 248's with the Dynaflash lettering but I think when people restore a 1940 they put the lettering on because they think it belongs. There is a lot of photos and information out there but its supported both ways.
  7. Thanks guys for all the replies and information.
  8. Im looking for some help. Can anyone post a picture of the correct switch and wiring connectors for a 1940 Buick Special? I was checking over things and found a problem. It looks like someone installed a later push on connector type switch and cut and wrapped the wires around the posts. I believe the correct switch for a 1940 should have screw on wire connectors but I don't know what they look like. I would like to get the correct switch and fix my connections. Any advise or photos would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Interesting statistics, I feel like I see 41,000 Escalade's a day!
  10. Judging by the title of this I thought the post was going to be about not stopping! My daughter wanted to drive my 1938 Ford so off we went. We are coming up to a stop sign and she's telling me she can't stop the car has no brakes! I told her to press on the pedal hard and we stopped. That was her first experience with mechanical brakes and her last. Just goes to show modern cars are effortless to drive and its hard for the kids to break away from that.
  11. Wow! That is pure class. I hope it is being saved.
  12. That would be great. I drive through Kentucky every April but this year things are on hold with all of this corona stuff going on. I live in Illinois. If I don't find one closer I can PM you when I'm headed south to see if the offer is still good. Thanks 39BuickEight! Nick
  13. I guess that would help, 16 inch 1940 Special
  14. Checking to see if anyone has an original 1940 Buick wheel they have to sell. The nicer the better , black with pinstripes a plus. Im looking to create another spare. thanks.
  15. Sorry to hear that Buick will no longer put the Buick lettering on its product. Thats a step in the wrong direction.
  16. Mike, The 4 inch is definitely the width I'm going with. You're car looks amazing !
  17. Thanks for the input. I think I'm going with the 4 inch. The car currently has 4 inch. I checked all my original paperwork and literature and nothing talks about what the original equipment tires were. Its a big purchase to make and I wanted to be best informed. Thanks, Nick
  18. I need to order some new tires for my 1940 Buick Special 4 door sedan. Is the correct white wall 3 inch or 4 inch ? Most factory photo I have seen looks to be a three inch. I hope someone knows exactly what they were delivered with.
