Here's a shot of the right rear of the car. I was a bit dubious that the color contrast would work. However I am very happy with it. Yeah I know the gravel guards are not looking very spry and are missing the backing plate the the rubber mat bonds to. But to buy new ones from Bob's is no cheap affair and I haven't run across any NOS used one either.

It's great to see cars like this are still out there. If the steering wheel could only talk!

The glass triangle bottles were an additive. Washer fluid antifreeze.

Nice car! It's a beauty. And thanks for sharing your story.

I agree they are harder to get. It's seems like the price goes up every year. This year I've stayed away from Napa and went to Farm & Fleet.
In stock and at a normal price. I guess a few tractors use the same group.

Thanks for the link. That car does have the tube insulated. Maybe a Judge of these cars can chime in here and shed some light on this.

I have a 1940 Buick Special 248 c.i.d. I'm currently working on detailing my engine compartment as it left the factory. Did the choke heat tube come with heat insulation on it? Or not? Is there a book with reference photos? What's the consensus?
Thanks.

I saw that car on there. Beautiful car. I was thinking the same thing, an awful lot of 1937 - 1938 cars and parts.

I'm guessing it's 1930 or earlier judging by the straight bar between the headlights. When did the Greyhound Ornament come on the scene? Please share your thoughts.

It's had to find a car to restore today that's at an affordable price to obtain. Even if you have to drag it out of the mud with a family of Rats living in it people want a fortune for it.

Can someone please help with the significance of this tag ? I'm at a loss. I can't find any reference for a body number tag or what it means anywhere. Tag reads... "Body Number 700 C - TS - 6596"
Thanks in advance.

Turned the garage heat on. Wish I had a Buffalo coat!

Here's my solution. I also like to keep my cars the way they came from the factory so when my vacuum switch acts up I just hook up my Snap On remote starter button to the switch terminals and presto! I keep it handy in the trunk. It always seems to happen If you're at a high profile event or have guests in the car. 🙄
