  1. Hi Despite my research via the web on the NY auto shows of the late 40's, I can find no information on where any archives from these shows may still exist. I had originally been told that the Daimler I was enquiring about may have been displayed at the 1946 NY auto show but a forum member sent me a news article from the NYT that the 1946 show was not going to take place. Does anyone have any ideas where I may be able to find any archive material on the 1946?, 1947 and 1948 shows? Also, would anyone know who the main Daimler dealer was in the late forties in NY? Incidentally, the car in question was imported back into the UK from Florida in 2000 but still bears its original UK plates which makes me think it was purchased as a non running restoration project when imported into the US but was never completed, hencethe original UK plates being retained on it. Does the UK registration JDU 280 on a Daimler DE36 with a Hooper built body, chassis No 51212, ring any bells with anyone, particularly in Florida? Thanks in advance for any help you can give. 2. Hi. My son who already owns a 1936 Daimler Light 15 Sports Saloon and 1936 Lanchester LA10 has justed purchased a 1946 Daimler DE36 straight eight limo for restoration and there is a rumour that this particular car was one of the vehicles sent over for the 1946 NY Auto Show. I have been trawling the net for any archive material that may be accessable online for the 1946 and (and just in case) the 1947 auto shows but without success. Any help and assistance in tracking down any info on these two shows would be gratefully accepted. Thanks Roger Callow Lincolnshire, England

In return, if anyone has a query about any British classic, please email me as I grew up in the 50's and 60's when a lot of the popular British classics were still on the road in every day use and I owned and repaired quite a few different types during that period and haven't forgotten to much, despite nudging 59 years old. The Lotus Elan was my favourite and I rebuilt an Elan plus 2 from the ground up in the 70's, so plenty of knowledge on this type, in particular. Thanks. Roger Callow
