  1. Craig, if the part number on your gear is 252693 I have a set. They came off a 1925 master series car. If you do a google search of Buick pre war throttle control bevel gear that should pull up that thread from March 2021. Leon in Summerland BC.
  2. Your carburetor certainly doesn't hold a pint of fuel and you ran it until it was almost empty before shutting it off there there can be two things going on. (1) your fuel shut off valve to the carb from the vacuum tank is faulty and is leaking slowly and (2) your needle and seat needs attention. I believe the vacuum tank would hold about a pint.
  3. Thank you Mary Elizabeth for telling us know about Terry's mishap. I know he will be reading this so I want him to know that he is going to be okay and will be back to normal in due time. I can say all this because two years ago I had the same thing happen to me. I was knocked over by a piece of farm machinery that I was moving and broke my right hip and like Terry was in hospital for 10 days. Lots a physio afterwards and since then I have officially renamed the term "the golden years" to the "titanium years". Leon
  4. Thanks Morgan for posting that. I was never sure of when the release to the market of the next year production model came about. Now I can be confident that my 1925 can be called 100 years old by this coming fall! All I have to concerned about now is that I don't make national news headlines.."81 year old senior citizen crashes 100 year old car"

  6. That is take the 25 out of winter hibernation and drive around the yard because we still haven't had any snow It was +5C today the 27th. Last year on the same date it was well below freezing with lots of snow. Hope everyone had a great Christmas.
  7. I can say with some certainty that the Mclaughlin Master tops will not fit a Standard as the Standard has 4 bows and the master has 5 bows. I learned that the hard way when I was restoring mine, like just about everything from a master does not fit a standard. They are however very attractive bows with the nickel plated brass socket and other accompanying hardware.
  8. This 1924-45 Mclaughlin Buick complete running gear including axles and wheels is located near Endeavour Saskatchewan which is east of Saskatoon. It was modified during the depression by adding a box on the back half. "The owner is in the process of modifying the rest of the chassis and body to his preference. I have only met him through a mutual friend so far but hope to meet in person next summer. He would like to see these parts go to someone working on a 24-45 and would be very flexible on price considering freight costs. He is also associated to a company that ships heavy machinery parts throughout North America and elsewhere. There is also two sets of Mclaughlin top bows. I have had the coat for 56 years and used it when living in Alberta and I walked to work when the temps dropped below -20C. you could just wear a T shirt under it and not get cold they are that warm. You would be glad to have it you happened to break down during a prairie winter blizzard. Of course that wouldn't happen if you were driving a Buick!
  11. Believe it or not we used to take it out in the winter.. this was 1985 when we were young and didn't know any better!
  12. Yes the car is a 1925-45 Mclaughlin Buick and the coat is Buffalo made in Edmonton in 1936
  13. Just have to put the side curtains on and the chains and we are good to go!!
  14. That looks the same as on my 25 Master and I do use the screws for proper tension. Leon
  15. Had that happen as well years ago..running very rich..I even turned the manifold over and put a down draft on it until I found the problem..

  17. That is a beautiful Buick and certainly one that I can relate to as I found mine 46 years ago in a similar dire condition and spent 7 years on the restoration. Enjoy your new ride!
  18. you should be able to adjust them running with a cold start. they won't heat up to make much of a difference in the time it takes to make the adjustments. Do you know if there is much wear in the tappet arm and the push rod end, if there is it will be more difficult to getting it accurate with a feeler guage. It is best to have a little tappet noise than none at all.
  19. It could very well be the valves may be adjusted to tight. I found that out years ago when I experienced some backfiring on my 25. I had adjusted them a little too tight in an attempt to quiet them down. Once I backed them off a little the backfiring stopped.

  23. Your car is beautiful Larry, I would have loved to have had the resources that are available today when I took on this project in 1977. No internet then!! It is a reliable driver but no more long trips for us, I would like to be still driving it when it turns 100 in 3 years and I will be 82. When you do the math I have owned it for almost half it's life. I really enjoy watching the current projects that a currently ongoing on this site. Leon
