  1. First of all, I apologize for the misspelling of Cutlass in my first message. To describe in more detail, this car has a special Landau top, like the Hurst Olds Pace Car ? with white vinyl on the rear half of the top, with an emblem on each side of it. The emblems say ?CS?. It has two side emblems on each front fender that say ?Cutlass.? On the front grille it just says ?Oldsmobile.? The M-20 four speed has a Hurst Shifter with black knob. I know this car is not a Hurst Olds or a 4-4-2, but what is it? I was looking at the strange VIN number on this car...140002. How can I find out if this number means anything special by being such a low number? This car had twin rear aerials. Would these be original or did someone add these on later? The car has SSIII rims on it but the seller had a photo of it with Magnum 500 rims. Which style is original? I wanted to restore this car to original, that's why I'm trying to decode the build/broadcast sheet. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. The motor is on standard bore and came with a complete rebuild kit, i.e., new forged pistons, rings, etc. The kid that I bought this from already had purchased these items in standard bore size. The block was honed and ready for assembly. I had the block rechecked at a reputable speed shop. The cylinders have a .004 taper. This is a high-end speed shop and they refused to assemble the motor for me, as it may have piston slap. I don't know if this is too much taper for reassembly or not. I don't know whether to go to the extra expense and have the block rebored to .030 over and buy new pistons and rings or will this motor be ok with the .004 inch taper. Any help from the pros would be greatly appreciated, and if someone could recommend a good reference book, that would be great. Thanks again. Richard P.S. I?m trying to attach a photo of the original car but, unfortunately, I don?t know how to do that. I?ll keep trying?..and hope for the best?..
  2. Thanks for the suggestion. I scanned a copy of the broadcast sheet and I'll try to attach it here but not sure if it will work. I'm not real good at this computer stuff so I'm not really sure how to post an attachment to the forum. We'll keep our fingers crossed that this will work. If it doesn't, thanks, anyway, for your help.
  3. Can someone help me decode my broadcast and/or build sheet for a 1972 Olds Cutless Supreme Holiday Coupe Model 57 or tell me where to find a book on it. Thanks a lot? Richard.
