My father had the same problem with the 46 Zephyr we have. It sat outdoors for 40 years and I am quite sure that he had to cut the neck a bit above the base and then once it was cleaned out, he made a new sleave and then welded the new sleave to the old neck. I wish I knew of a page in one of the old manuals for this problem. I recommend contacting Narangansett and seeing if they have a parts book you can purchase or, better yet, contact one of the source listings at the LZOC.org web site and see if they have solid advise. hey, Zephyr owners and mechanics, I am confused and need help. Brakes are not working properly. I recently changed out a new master cylinder and then I bled the system. Brakes worked fine several times around the block. But now, the wheels are tight again and it is responding as if I have the emergency brake pulled and it won't roll easy again.
