1. Got the parts for both sides (upper & lower), and the Rivi will get into the shop tomorrow. I appreciate the advice fellas.
2. My '72 has almost 53K on it. I will visually check the busings and see if they need replacing. I won't make the mistake of masking a problem that needs fixing, been there done that! At first it was not very noticeable, but the last few days have been quite a change. As long as the pavement I'm driving on is smooth, I hear nothing. It's when I hit bumpy roads, pulling in a driveway, or things in that nature that the noise is created. This weekend I will examine the Rivi and try to figure out what the problem is. Thanks for the advice fellas, it's greatly appreciated.
3. My upper A-arms have started to squeak pretty bad, and it's only my left one. Do I need to replace bushings or anything in that matter? I've tried a few things and it doesn't seem to quite the noise one bit. Any help fellas? Thanks in advance.
4. What's up Stevo. Oh heavens no, my previous '72 Rivi was all stock and original. I'm going to do the same with this one, but I will be adding an Air Ride Suspension to it. My route to work and back home has a few steep hills and driveways, and my crossmember seems to hit several of those spots. So with the Air Ride Suspension I'll be able to raise the Rivi up when needed. Other than that, I like the Rivi's to be all original. Glad to be back Stevo!
5. Good day everyone, I'm looking for a few parts for my newly acquired 1972 Buick Riviera. - the vinyl covering that goes over the beltline trim on a '72 Riviera. - the accessory from bumper guards that go over the bumper (on each side of the front license plate) - a front bumper with the black rubber guard If you have any items described above, and are willing to part with them...please leave me a message and I'll get back to you. Thanks in advance. -Rigo
6. Thanks fellas, I will look into each suggestion. I can do most of the work myself, but I don't touch anything electrical. I'm looking into finding a decent mechanic around town and thrown him the suggestions. Thanks again. - Rigo
7. I just bought a '72 Rivi to replace one I sold years ago, and this time I want to convert my points/condenser distributor to an electronic one. Does anyone know what that conversion consists of? What all will I need to modify/update? Where can I purchase the items? How much can I plan on spending? Any information will help. Thanks in advance. - Rigo
8. It's been sold, sorry. I'm trying to figure out how to delete my posts. Thanks for the inquiry. - Rigo
9. Good day all. I'm here to put my boy up for sale, I hate to do this but it's been over 1 years since I last touched my Buick; I just don't have a place to work on it now. The Mrs. and I split up and she got the house...so the Buick is now in storage and waiting for a new owner. When I first purchased the Buick I started a thread under "Me and My Buick". I've attached a link below for you to view my Buick. O.k. I purchased the Buick in May '07 from a friend in Emporia, Kansas who was selling it by consignment for a lady in Colorado who inherited from her father who passed away (a one owner car). She kept the Buick in dry storage for over 30 years. When I brought it home I began to disassemble the body to be able to take it off the frame. My plan was to perform a frame off restoration, but right before I was about to pull the engine out and send it to get rebuilt...things happened with the wife and it all went downhill from there. The Buick is in excellent shape inside and out. If you need more pictures or want more information, please feel free to contact me. 10. Same here....GREAT JOB!
11. Great looking Coupe you have there, and excellent work on the frame. I'm in the process of doing the same thing on my '36 Buick Special (view my thread) http://forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/427015#Post427015 . What are you using to coat your frame? Is it Powder Coated or are you using POR 15? Are you personally bending all your lines or are you reusing the original ones? I really liked the stands you made for your frame, did you build or purchase them? I'll probably make some to mimic yours...Thanks!!
12. Thanks Earl, I'll start a "Continued" thread next time I load some pictures. Thanks for the comment, I also hate it when I'm trying to read something or view pictures and it keeps scrolling down. I'll try inserting them as thumbnails as well. I'm glad you enjoy our project!
13. Oye Rafa, I've been trying to find someone who would sell the drop spindles. Do you know who might sell them? Gracias bro.
14. Well JohnD, I am a Lowrider and the air bag suspension will allow me to lay the Buick on the ground when I park it....the lower the better. I absolutely do not want to intall a Hydraulic System on this Buick or any of my rides because that messes up the frame and it's a lot of hassle. I was told an Air Bag suspension gives you a smoother ride when driving, unlike the Hydraulics which are very bouncy. Everything else on this buick is going to be strictly original and unmodified except for the air suspension. I have been having doubts on 4-linking the rear end since Dave brought up on how different the Buicks Driveshaft is. I'm still doing my homework on what else I can do to lower it as much as possible without 4-linking the rear end. Thanks for the feedback.
15. That's why this forum is so useful, I didn't know about the driveshaft difference in Buicks Dave....thanks for the input. I really don't want to mess with too much of the suspension or heavily modify any part of the frame, but I was told a 4-link suspension is recommended when installing air bags. Does anyone know if they make any reverse type leaf springs for my Buick? My father in law has a '37 Chevy and he bought some reverse leaf springs for it. I'll have to check with him and see where he bought them. I'm keeping the Straight 8, no question about it. Keeping this Buick close to it's original state is my goal, except for the air bags and maybe wheels. John, we will be powder-coating the Boss's Firetruck blue. I let him choose the color, and he really loves blue. I would have gone with red but it's not my project....you have to respect the choices of the owner!
