  1. 1] Negotiate your best price. [Down load '89s from autotrader.com that are similar in milage and show them what the average Reatta is selling for] 2]Tell them you want to keep the car and do not want a "salvage" on the title 3] Tell them to add sales tax. [They are basicly buying your car, this is more money for you, add this after you have arrived at a price] Hopefully this will get you enough money to either repaint your car or at the very worst offset the hit you take in selling yours if that is the way you decide to go. Good luck!
  2. Sounds like you have a great car. Change all the fluids, filters, hoses etc. Then drive it and watch for what starts to act up, let us know what's going on and then we will make you buy all sorts of unneeded parts until you are frusterated with the car and then one of us will buy it from you. Signed, Snidley Whiplash Seriously post some pics and certainly use this forum for great advice
  3. About 7 years ago my Buick Roadmaster was hit by hail. The settlement offered was $2300.00 for a repaint. I kept the cash as I was not going to keep the car much longer. Look at the bright side they will offer you some money and then you can get it repainted the color you want. On the safe side you should get some quotes so you know what they offer is fair.
  4. Looks like that is what he wants. Looked at 1 picture and it had 16 way seats, another picture showed not. Also interior has the "pink" look of fading in the carpeting. No sunroof. I hope he gets it. Overall a very clean car, but $70k. Wait till Manikmekanik weighs in. He'll want $100k for Black Beauty.
  5. [sung to the tune by the tinman] "If I only had a quarterback" lol
  6. Just like our friend Jim who wanted to slam the Packers when he crossed his multiple hundred posts I was hoping to discuss the Viqueens upcoming season of futility. I am willing to bet the Pack ends up with a better record the the Vikes. Whatdaya think Jim?
  7. Correct me if I am wrong but if he takes off the wheel he also takes off the airbag. He should then be left with the wires he wants to put the unknown resistor into.
  8. First off welcome. Most people to get the true Reatta experience want the '88 or'89 for the touch screen. If they get the '9091 they want to get the old syle steering wheel and put that on their car. Someone with way more experience then me will weigh in on the flat screen. But regarding the dashes, I am not aware of anyone doing a conversion. Typically wnile they are all Reattas there is the 88/89 and then there is the 90/91. Enjoy your car and if you can shoot us some pics.
  9. I would think that you have almost 1/2 your pad left. Remember you have 4 wheel disc brakes so I think you have lots of wear left as all 4 wheels will brake equally. [Cars with discs in the front and drums in the back, have the discs wearing out twice as fast]. When I did an indepth inspection of my car after I purchased it, my mechanic friend told me I had about 10k left on the pads. That was 12k miles ago. The squeelers still haven't made noise so I am hoping I have until fall storage then I will replace them prior to spring.
  10. There are 12 ounces in a can. You usually need but 1 can for a recharge. The Reatta system holds about 42 ounces. My car was telling me that my compressor was disconnecting due to low freon. I still only put 1 can in as I didn't want to run the risk of overfilling the system as that is very hard on the seals. Freon is a gas and gasses will expand due to heat. Compressor/system is now working fine with no warnings. Remember to clear codes from computer. My compressor would not run until I did that. My car is a '89 and I helped another guy on this forum [he has a '90]. So clearing codes is probably required for all Reattas.
  11. I've been buying it right along[on ebay average cost $30.00]. I am up to 6 cans of r-12. I also was in Indiana and bought 2 cans of r-134. So I guess I am pretty much set.
  12. 22 posts and 9 replies. This is going to be one interesting post. I myself liked the old format, but am curious as to why the change was made. Is this format harder to use or is it just because it is new? Are we leaving the other part of the Reatta page the same or is that too being changed. If so can we do updates on the frequently asked questions to adress; twilight sensors, overheating, a/c charging, how to download trouble codes, padgetts repair of coil packs and magnets? That way if someone has a problem and are relitivly new to the forum they can download this info as needed. Just curious and adding sugestions. No matter what I am glad the forum is back, I missed you guys.
  13. I have purchased all my parts thru guys on this forum. Why does anyone need to go elsewhere? <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I have not seen or heard of anyone getting ripped off buying thru this forum, but I did see a non-member rip off a fellow member. I think we should support each other as much as we can.
  14. I drove from Wi. to the Outerbanks in April. Only problem was I should have charged the a/c before I left. Tried getting that done on the Outerbanks, but the guy tried telling me I had a compressor problem not low freon[it worked when the temp got hot, gasses expand w/heat]. Just make sure you go over the maintenance items, belts, hoses, change coolant, filters, etc, and you should be ok. If you have been driving your car with no problems, so should your trip be.
  15. I would try a pm to tommyh on this forum. He is a 17 year old electrical whiz!
  16. The bull probably was from Ill. and didn't have any manners! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Our cows have class! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
  17. The only code you have is history means you currently have no problems. Good for you and have fun with your car <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  18. If you are looking for something w/cheese try the Hideaway Supper Club in Harshaw near Minocqua. They deep fry their cheese squares[with breading of course]. If your arteries aren't clogged they will be!!! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  19. This is the most interesting forum. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />How will I fill my time w/o being able to look into other Reatta owners car issues? <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />
  20. I agree w/Spongebob. Don't go looking for trouble. Wait for the warning to pop up on your screen. If the car a/c is cooling the cabin down, leave it alone. Remember that gas expands when it gets warm,so the worst thing you can do is try to overfill it. You will blow seals. The next question I have is, did you try going into the diagnostics? You probably don't have an a/c code, but you may have history codes. Why don't you post back what you get for codes?
  21. I think I know what screen you are looking at. It is the one with all the O.K.'s If you were to key on engine it will show dangerous low oil pressure, or if you pressed the fuel it would show that you need more fuel, etc. etc. You are in the area of the computer that shows what the warnings look like if/when they pop up on your screen when/if you have a problem. To get in the diagnostics that are referred to on this forum, you go to the climate screen. Turn the heat/ac off. Car can be running. Press the off and warm buttons at the same time and then you will go into diagnostics. Howard will probably weigh in as he likes to welcome new members. At any rate welcome and good luck with your car. When you have time maybe you should post some pictures or tell us about your car,
  22. This morning while riding my bike w/wife and oldest daughter we spotted another Reatta. This one is red w/red rub strip[like mine, mine was home when I got back]. That brings us up to 3 red Reattas in the Appleton area. 2 red/red w/tan int. and 1 red/black w/tan int. When 2 seater gets his back on the road we will have 4 runnin the roads. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Went back this afternoon and spoke to a tenant who knows the owner. This car was given to this 40 something single mother by her dad the original owner. It is a 90 and is seems to be very clean. I passed on the info about this forum so maybe she will check in.
  23. About a month ago I was pulled over for no front plate. I had already bought a bracket from a guy on this forum so I was prepared. It was a female state trooper, so I was expecting a "hard" time, but she was really nice. She took so long in her car that I was sure I was getting a ticket, but when she came back to my car she had literature about getting a "classic" plate. We both knew that I still had 2 years to go. So on went the plate. I now am street legal.
  24. Do you hit a bump or are driving on a rough stretch of road when they go out? Your harness may have worked loose to the instrument panel.
  25. Only problem is, he now has a corrupted system. Every a/c shop is going to excavate the system and then replace parts. I'll bet before the final job is done he will have spent $700.00. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> ouch!!!
