  1. I pulled the moldings earlier today. The right rear molding is in good shape. PM me and I'll show you a couple of pictures. Ed
  2. It came with the two grills but one bar on one side is cracked. It is complete and I imagine a little JB Weld might make it pretty much unnoticeable. Depends on whether you're looking for a driver or 400 point item. It does not have the remote trunk release.
  3. If you do find an 84 or 85 with the headliner, make sure that 1) there is a snap on boot included in the deal, or 2) that you get one soon. With the top down, the front 12 - 15" is exposed to the sun and will fade that part of the headliner quickly if not covered. Ed
  4. Engine and trans are sold! Still lots of other stuff available
  5. I'm headed over there right now. From what I remember, all of the side moldings and wheel arch moldings are in good shape. I'll let you know more after I've pulled them. Ed
  6. Catalog # GM 1117 If you click on the picture of the list, you can see the number at the top of the list. Ed
  7. Here's an article on repairing the OE antenna for your Buick. If you experience a tick in your valve train, run a quart or Marvel Mystery Oil in it for a while, then do an oil change. Search the archives on which oil to use. Modern oils do not have the zinc needed by older flat tappet engines. Electric antenna repair From what I see in your pictures, the antenna is on the right front fender. If the antenna on your '64 is like the antenna on my '64 Riviera, there's an access panel in the inner fender. Remove the outer machine screws and the entire antenna assembly will slide out the bottom. The larger single bolt holds the antenna bracket to the inner fender access panel. Ed

  9. Did you check to see what was listed in the ROA's Riview? Ray, editor, pulls a lot of ads from different sources; not all are owned by ROA members. Welcome to the Riviera Owners Association Homepage
  10. In the meantime, install a universal heater hose valve in-line in the hose going to the heater core. When you get some "freed" cables, you can remove the valve and replace the hose.
  11. Look closely at the project car in Kansas City Kansas. It appears to me that the entire interior, at least the front seats and door panels have been replaced with items from a coupe. I'm under the impression that ALL convertibles had leather seats, vinyl door panels, and vinyl sun visors. It's kind of difficult to tell from these pictures but I don't think I'm seeing things.
  12. That Mr. G is good! I received the new screw kit from him today. Pictures of the screws and the application list are attached. Also included in every order is a CD of his catalog. Some of you had questions about screws other than those that would be seen when opening the car door but not opening the glove box, tiltling a seat forward, etc. I sent those screws along but Glenn (Mr. G) wanted to keep this kit uniform with his others. BUT, he did send me an example and a part number for each screw that I sent to him that he didn't put in the kit. I'll make a complete list with part numbers and ask that Ray publish in a future edition of the Riview. Here's a list of the extra screws that he sent that he has available: Courtesy light in glove box blove box liner sun visor tension front seat bumper plus button cover for seat pivot seat belt shoulder bolt The only thing he didn't come up with that I requested was the stop for the bucket seat lean back. So just make sure that when you're reupholstering your seats, you don't lose yours. Ed
  13. Dave, Here's a picture of a '90 door panel that I found on Google. Looks just like my '93.
  14. I can see your way of thinking, but the Cadillac Eldorado and Oldsmobile Tornado werre made into convertibles by ASC starting in 1982 as well. GM was making Cadillac convertibles up through 1981 using Hess and Einhart to do the conversions. I'd venture to guess that lots of the same "unique to the convertible parts" are common on all three makes and some of the ideas carried over from Hess and Einhart. Rather that have to tool up completely new parts, such as the top latch I mentioned, don't you think the designers at GM would have told ASC what they had that could be used and ASC would need to make them work? It would sure save a lot of R&D and tooling costs. My thinking is that the design for the convertible surely came from the GM design studio and ASC had to make it work. Are you thinking that ASC approached GM with the design and all of the tooling? Just curious.
  15. I've been told that some of the uniqe parts are actually parts from other GM cars. One thing I remember for certain being said is that the clamps for holding the top down are the same as were used on the Pontiac Sunfire convertible I never needed one, so I never checked it out. Would there be anyone at GM, not ASC, who might have info on the car's design. I would imagine that GM designed it and just had ASC do the conversion using the GM specs.
  16. I think if you'd offer the owner $400 for the combo, he'd be willing to negotiate from there. He's been told that unless it's a running engine, he shouldn't expect any more than that. Remind him that as is, it's just a rebuildable core. Let me know what you'd be willing to pay and I'll let him know. From there, I'll get a phone number for you and you two can deal directly with each other. Or send me a PM with your phone and I'll tell you a little more. I also have a pair of really rusty heads you can have for $15.00 each if you want some to rebuild. They're complete with valves and springs. Next time you're in town, give me a holler and we'll do some BBQ, I've got a plan I'd like to discuss with you. Ed
  17. Hop over to the Reatta site and find DAVES89. Send him a PM and tell him what you're looking for. It seems that he knows where quite a few of these era cars are in some U-pull-it yards.
  18. I have a driver's side seat switch that has the rear mounting tab on the left; the front mounting tab is centered. on the rear tab is a cast number a backwards 9 then 248 some space then a 2. I wonder just how many different versions there are? Anyone need an inexpensive spare? $10 plus shipping.
  19. Are the tabs for the mounting screws in the middle on each end or does one end have the mounting tab more toward the side? There were different switches. Ask me how I know. Ed
  20. I saw this today whie browsing and thought of you. 63 64 Buick Riviera Wiper Switch 2 Speed & Sprayer Button Chrome 1963 1964 Works | eBay
  21. Wildcat 1562, I'm a little late chiming in here, but not knowing what you're wanting to achieve, you might want to know that the Formula Five (Buick Rally) wheel was not available on a Riviera until 1965. The top of the line wheel option for 1963 and 1964 was the cast aluminum wheel cover with stainless knock-off. The 15" rally wheels with 5" bolt circles look pretty much the same 1965 - 1970. In '71 they had a totally different look. I've got a set of '67 rims on my '63 Riviera. I took a chisle and removed the register ring. No problems ever. All you need to make sure of is that all four wheel have the same back space and the same size center hole for the center cap. Ed
  22. The first set has been mailed to me so I can take a look at it. I'll take some pictures of the kit and post them when the package arrives. Glenn told me that he's including info on some of the screws that won't be in the kit so they can be ordered separately if you want them. Ed
  23. I had one a couple of years ago and can tell you from experience that you need to make sure that the one you purchase is 100% complete. Little things like the swivel cover for the shoulder belt may be missing. They do not exist in the reproduction world. The panel on the arm rest is a special item (four operating windows rather than two) for the Riviera convertible only. If the one you're looking at is cracked, broken, or missing, you're going to have to live with it. Things like top seals are not reproduced. Anything that ASC (they did build all of them for the entire run) had to make or have made especially for the convertible is not being reproduced. Other things that were common to all Rivieras from the era are not that hard to find. Ed
  24. This is an update to my previous post. Mr G's Enterprises has the spare tire wing nut you're looking for. Click on the "Fasteners" link; the wing nut is on pg. 44 of the PDF online catalog. Mr. G's Enterprises - Home Page Ed
  25. Glenn, I know for a fact that the front lenses are crazed. They're in one piece but have the hair line cracks in them. If you're missing them completely, these could work, I'll check on the back up lenses, clips, and trunk light tomorrow. The jack hold down bracket and spring is very rusty - just the bracket is good, the spring can probably be replaced at any hardware store by comparing sizes. The wing nut for the spare is corroded in place to the bolt but a google search turned up lots of ideas. All you need to know is thread size and count. Ed
