  1. You cannot paste and copy Facebook items but there’s a guy on the Riviera cars and parts group who is advertising some boat tail stuff for sale, including doors.
  2. Happy to report that my new Service Manual arrived today. 😁
  3. Mine is so busted up, it’s impossible to find anything in it. As we speak, a new repo is on its way to me. I ordered it a couple of days ago. But neither scenario is useful right now. My “book of many pieces” is in one place, the car and I are about 350 miles from home. I read that big illustrated wiring diagram wrong. It shows the ground to be in #1 or #3. From what I’ve picked up here, the ground is #2. Back to the drawing board. Thanks, Ed.
  4. The inner and outer fenders on my 64 are off. There is no battery. And the wiper motor is exposed. There's no switch in the dash. Is there a way to test the wiper motor under these circumstances? We have a 12V battery charger that we connected to what we thought were the ground terminal and a 12V terminal. All we're getting is a clicking from the motor. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Ed
  5. I uncovered an original (at least it’s that dirty) 1964 AFB and found a tag on it. There were two lines pressed into it but no numbers between the lines. That tag was on the front on the driver’s side. It was raw aluminum, but had some shine to it.
  6. That stud is tapered as well as the hole. I think the tapers prevent the two surfaces from contacting each other. I’m going to Illinois tomorrow and can look at the front end on m car. There is not a stitch of anything on that rebuilt front suspension that is OE. I’ll take a look at it as well as talk to the guy doing the restoration and see what I can figure out,
  7. Depending on how much you drive and what you budget is for gas, the larger tire will make fewer revolutions per mile and should give you better gas mileage. This is not applicable for the 1965, but it might be worth considering. In 1963/64, the standard size tire was the 7.10 x 15 which came on a 5.5” steel wheel. If you ordered the optional 7.60 x 15 tire, it came on a 6” steel wheel. If you’re running the 1965 Buick Rally wheels, they are 6” wheels. So in effect, the 225/75R15 would be appropriate.
  8. I’ve been thinking about your post. The reason that no one has replied to you is because you’re looking for a fictitious part. Some previous owner has tried to take the wear out of the center link by sticking a washer between the center link and the pitman arm/drag link. The only way to fix it is to replace the center link with a rebuilt one. Two ways. 1) send yours in to have it rebuilt, 2) exchange yours for one that’s been rebuilt - James @ www.bestoffercounts.com has them on an exchange basis.
  9. I don’t know if you’re a drinking man, but if you are you’ll find lots of craft beers brewed with bourbon; a different one an every restaurant. Then there’s the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. A driving tour of many distilleries, all of which tasting rooms you visit after the tour of the facility. Kentucky has BBQ almost as good as Kansas City’s. The A visit to the Kentucky Horse Park is an experience. The Derby may be in Louisville, but the breeding and trading grounds are in Lexington. It’s a fun city. The host hotel is easily accessible and the car show won’t be spread out all the place.
  10. You be the man, Winston. Looking forward to seeing you in Lexington. Ed
  11. Can anyone confirm for me that the 1964 ST400 pan gasket and the 1965> ST400 pan gaskets are one and the same? Rockauto shows gaskets from multiple vendors for the 1964 ST400 and the same part number for the 1965> ST400s. But when you click on the information link for the 1964 gasket, the listings for Buick start with 1965. I’m curious if the deep finned aluminum pan I have will fit my 1964 ST400. It’s stamped “400” in the bottom but I know the 1964 trans is a one year only unit. Ed
  12. If you want to add to your collection, I have a pair of taillights that you gave to me some time ago. I can bring them for you. You can sell them or give them away. 😁
  13. Dave, So glad to hear that you’re coming to Lexington. As well as recognizing it as Linda’s car. See you at the registration desk this year? 😁 Ed
  14. Thanks, Winston. It’s had a steady diet of Mobil1 along with Wix filters since I took possession of it.
  15. The 1979 S_Type came with body colored mirrors.
  16. 116,000+ miles (see photo), new tires @114, 595 miles. Oil and filters at 115,829 miles. Gold Package, concert sound, grand tourning package. I have the original window sticker., This car runs and drives great. Anytime maintenance is required, it's done. We bought the car from the original owner and have all maintenance receipts since it was delivered with 20 miles on the odomter. We are getting ready to downsize and will no longer have room for this car. At the 2018 Riviera Owners Intenational meet, it won first place for the 1986 - 1993 Rivieras in its class . At the ROA meets in the following years, it was displayed in the winners circles because it was ineligible to compete per ROA judging guidelines. I have more pictures, can take more if requested, and can photo to original window sticker. I'll pay for a 3 year subscribtion to the Riviera Owners' Assn for the purchaser. $6,900 OBO. Oh yeah, it’s equipped with a RediRad. Plays music off your device through the OE radio via a small wire with a 3mm pin.
  17. Here’s a chart that confirms what Tom says about the 8.45 (1965 sizing) falling between that 7.10 and 7.60:(1949-1964 sizing.) I’ve run most of the equivalents and like the 225/75R15 size best. 215 looks too skinny. 225/70R15 rubs the chassis on full lock. 235 is too big. The next hard part is determining which width sidewall. https://www.tirerack.com/upgrade-garage/how-do-i-convert-old-tire-sizes
  18. Page 8 in the CARS Riviera catalog. View the catalog online.
  19. It will probably cost you more to make the conversion than you’d spend on gas, if you drove it like a classic rather than a daily driver.
  20. Buy a new one. Not clogged by years of sucking dirty air. There are all sorts of new twist on chrome plated breathes out there. I just bought two of Amazon.
  21. There is a chart on the ROA website that shows the conversion sizes for each year. In 63 and 64, there were two tire sizes as original - 7.10 x 15 and 7.60 x 15. They convert respectively to 215/75R15 and 225/75R15. In 1965 the industry change the tire designations. The 65 Riviera came with one size 8.45x15. Different designation but the same physical size as the 7.60 x 15. Your proper replacement size is the 225/75R15.
  22. Want a wider white sidewall? Check out this video If you can someone with a whitewall tire machine, he can make any size whitewall from a blackwall tire. I watched a guy do this once on a Tote The Note used car lot. A car came in with two white walls and two blackwalls. The guy with the machine used a floor Jack to lift the car and set it on the machine. The machine would create a grove by removing a little rubber from the tire as it spun on the machine. The operator would then apply a latex paint in the grove. He could adjust the cutter so it would cut any width groove. Cheap whitewalls but 40 years ago whitewall tires made any car more upscale.
  23. I think that is Gord’s car. You can see the door panel and the seat pattern which identifies it as a standard interior and what appears to be Gord’s compass mounted on the mirror with a suction cup. ??? As well as the BCA sticker in the right rear 1/4 window.
  24. I don’t know about the interior, could have been original. I know nothing about the sale of the car either. Sorry.
