Check Hankook optima or Nexen. Both make whitewalls that are 1 inch. I've been running the Hankook's on my 71 since Oct 2016. Been very happy with them. Robert Bonto

I have to agree 100% with Tom T. 134 will never get as cold as a fully functioning R-12 system. That has been proven beyond a doubt. Robert Bonto

1972 Riviera 60/40 front seat with armrest (FOUND 😀😀😀)

Rodney, if he has the trim kit for 60/40 seats, then he will have to find 60/40 seats from a 72 or 43. Bob Bonto -

No 60/40 seats in71 only straight bench or buckets. 72 had 60/40 seats. Bob Bonto -
This car is a fake, it does not have the orginal 71 TA engine. It has a standard 72. It was put together from another car. Vanguard sold this car a couple years ago to some unsuspecting person. It has been bought & sold many times as when someone finds out what it really is, they dump it. IMO Vanguard loves selling fakes for mega $$$. Now once again, they are trying to resell it for mega $$$$$. Bob Bonto

I have attached a picture from my 71 GS that is all original. As you can see the type of factory screws that attach the data plate. They were not riveted From looking at the picture you sent, the screws are not factory correct. The paint code is 18 which should be charcoal mist. Now according to the production #'s 565 72 Riv's were painted black code #19. You state the vin has a "W" in the vin, but the seller has not provided you the engine code. The engine code for 72 GS should be "WA". I also noticed the engine appears to be black when it should be red. Someone has also messed with the fuel line as I see a separate fuel filter, but no fuel line. I'm surprised that no one caught that the front bumper is from a 71 as the 72's had the white rubber strip. IMO, there appears to be many discrepancies, that the seller may be trying to sell you a fake GS. Being that you live in Europe, I would hate for you to get scammed.

If you do not have a factory service manual, here is a link to the 71 Factory manual. As everyone has stated, it is not necessary to remove the distributor to replace the points. http://www.buick-riviera.com/servicemanual.html Bob Bonto -
Neither, the trunk had an insulation pad that was covered in black felt, taillights had black cardboard panels. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175425215380?hash=item28d8285b94:g:bBsAAOSwM~5jK41r Robert Bonto

1966 riviera auto climate control
bob71GS replied to lilmisshunter@yahoo.com's topic in Buick Riviera
Jason is correct that the auto A/C would barely worked when they were new. When I ordered my 71GS, the salesmen sat me down at a desk and gave me the wholesale order form, the very first thing he told me was, "I do not want you to order the auto A/C, it is nothing but junk right from the factory" I ordered the manual A/C, works excellent. I also know a fellow with a 66 Riv that has the auto system, he has spent 5 years trying to get it to work and gave up. Parts are unobtanium Good luck Bob Bonto -
I also have my 71 GS insured with Hagerty. This year they reviewed my policy, when the underwriter asked what the mileage was and I told him 22,000 original miles, he immediately up the value to $40K. Bob Bonto

Try S/M Turnswitch http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm

It is an absolute PIA to change. The last time I had to replace one on my 71, it took 3 guys to lift off the hood. You may want to try removing the bolts to the inner fender and see if you can get the inner fender down enough to get it out. This is one thing the Buick engineers screwed up. Robert Bonto

I changed mine back in 2003. I bought AC Delco 6428629 Bob Bonto

I don't think this came out of a 72 Riv with posi, the one tip off was there was no posi tag. In checking the full size Buick service manual for 71, the axle code for 3.42 posi should be QAO. The service manual did not list any AO codes for any other full size Buicks. Perhaps this is for the Skylark series. I cannot tell you what the 95 represents as the manual does not have any such info. The last letter "O" designates the manufacture which was Oldsmobile. I believe that Buick used the same codes for a number of years. Robert Bonto

I checked my 71 today, that is a rubber cover for a insulator. I have attached a copy from the 72 assembly manual, as you can see where it is and there is no bolt. the diagram shows where the bolts are. Robert Bonto

Yes the Riviera GS handling package A9 included radial HR70/15 tires. As Seafoam pointed out, if the tires are more than 10 years old, they need to replaced. Bob Bonto

Had my booster done by them last year, also got a package of "booster nuts". Great people to do business with. Robert Bonto

I've had Bilstein shocks on my 71 Riv for many years now. In my opinion, you cannot get a better shock. They are not cheap, but they do come with a lifetime guarantee. Performance Suspension Technology sells a set for $472. https://p-s-t.com/
