  1. Wow!! I really touched off a healthy discussion about condensors/capacitors, Didn't I??!! Thanks,O.D. and the rest of you for your help/suggestions! Wiley
  2. Thanks, Ed! You are probably a life saver!!! Thanks heaps!! Wiley Snavely
  3. HEEEEELLLLLPPPPP! Does anyone know where I might get a pair of ignition condensers for the dual point Northeast distributer in my 34 Packard 1101 standard 8?? These are the ones that fit down in a hole in the distributer plate and have a screw head contact on the end instead of a wire pigtail. The original Northeast # is 1848826 which is a .20-.25 Mfd condenser. I have been told that a Standard NE 57 condenser will substitute but don't know whether that is true or not. I need these condensers yesterday, and would greatly appreciate any and all assistance from you guys out in Packardland to locate a pair of them. Thanks, Wiley
  4. HEEELLLLPPPPP!!!! I need to locate a pair of condensers for the dual point Northeast distributer on my 34 Packard 1101 standard 8. These are the kind that fit down in a hole in the distributer and have a screw head coming out of the center rather than a wire pigtail. The Northeast # for these is 1848826 and I'm told that Standard NE 57's will substitute, but don't know whether this is true or not. Can anyone out there in Packard land point me in the right direction to get a couple of these? I need them yesterday!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, Wiley
  5. No need, O.D., I followed your previous instructions, drove out the old pin (came out rather easy), and made a new one over the weekend. Put it in today and now it shifts like it should with no wallowing around of the shift cane!! Will try the oil pressure adjustment in next couple of days or so. Thanks a million for your help/suggestions!!!!
  6. Thanks again, O.D., will let you know how we make out!
  7. Gosh, O. D., You are certainly great on the help comeback! The small spring on mine is on the right side of the shifter when facing it from the driver's seat. It appears that at one time there might have been a ball atop this spring but if so it is long gone now. Am I right about a ball needing to be atop this spring? On mine, both rectangular ends of the pivot pin are completely sheared of flush with the ball itself, so there is absolutely no stability for the shift cane. Does this pin go through the ball from left to right from driver's seat position or front of car? Just want to be sure about this before we try to drive it out! Or do you think it would be better to try to drill it out? Again, many thanks for your help and suggestions!!!
  8. Thanks, O.D., I'll give it a shot Monday and let you know what happens!
  9. Shifting gears on my 34 8 coupe roadster is extremely difficult. Excessive and very sloppy play in shift lever appears to be caused by sheared/worn off pivot pin in ball on end of shift lever. Can anyone tell me how/what I can do to replace this pin?? How is it held in ball? Will greatly appreciate any help or suggestions!! Thanks!
  10. I have a 34 packard 8 coupe roadster and want to know how to use the external oil pressure bypass gizmo to adjust the oil pressure up or down. Thanks for your help!
