    coil ?

one of the good people on this site sent me a resistor and would accept no payment,I did use it.I am thinking that this latest hottest petronic coil may be at the root of the problem, It is listed as twelve volt, and the list of apps does not include my car. I rechecked with the seller and petronix and they both ibsisted that the coil was proper,as you know I have downloaded or bought all of the manuals I can find for the car. I also have most of the tools needed.my way of checking the overdrive may be primitive, but if I still do not have the overdrive arfter returning the ignition to stock, that will answer a lot of questions. my overdrive is the type eleven.selenoid and gov. on same side, as usual good to hear from you. michael r

    coil ?

I may have done something wrong, when installing petronix and new petronix coil.coil was a 12volt unit,I checked with petronix and they said the coil was the right one for my 6volt positive ground car. I have not been able to get the overdrive to work since I put the solid state ing. and coil.I am thinking the reason my lie with the coil.I am just going back to when I had a working overdrive,if it is still not working when I put back the points and stock coil, then I will have to expand my search.once again thanks for the help.mike r. malo mori quom fodari.

    best wishes

Iwish all of you a most merry Christmas, and a new year that sees your packards run fine in all of it.a special thanks to the ones of you on this site that helped me, you made the difference between me having a packard that ran, or did not.mike r
  9. It has a electric fuel pump on it now. one train of thought was that it was not capeable of providing enough fuel on high demand,I will probley fine that there is blockage in the fuel tank, that would be more aprapo to what the so called restorers would do. best regards.michael
  10. I gather you lnow how to install a manifold,I would offer advice to anyone with a porcelainized manifold to help it stay looking good for a longer amount of time. Warm the car up with some very easy driving until the compleate manifold has a chance to expand.the porcelian and the cast iron have a different expansion rate. vale.m.rybikowsky
  11. would someone reccomend a 6v elec fuel pump I can use in my 22nd series with 288 engine, the elec pump that is in it does not seem to push enough fuel when I am really getting on the gas. thanks. mike r
  12. Its not difficult to understand why I would purchase from kanter insteed of buying locally, I explainded this early in this thread.I paid kanter more then I could have paid locally because I was trying to support a company that trys to provide parts for our packards. I realize that this attitude is foreign to some people I hope this explains why to owen-dyneto.m.rybikowsky

    its alive

thanks to all of you that have heped get my 48 22nd running,I have taken it for long drives the last two days,it is running like a new one.almost all of the problems with this car are a direct result of some so called restorers, messing things up.the latest thing was a part of the car linkage comeing unhooked, this was under a housing held on by two screws, the linkage was supposed to be retained by a hairpin clip, no clip had been put on, while I was going over the car hunting for more supprises,I decided to adjust the valves, these two drives have been a joy. again thanks to everyone. michael r
