"Miss Helen" my show car. Ron Warner
D Yaros replied to sirlucky's topic in Period Photos - Post WWII
Nice, no doubt! That said, while it may be a post-war car me thinks it is not a post WWII car? -
The person who bought the car from me took it to Mecum Dallas and sold it with No Reserve in 2018.

As of today (16 Oct 2019) car relisted; now with a $16.5K asking price

I have been advised a car I formerly owned, a 1955 Cadillac CDV; a.k.a The Gray Lady; was offered for sale this year at Hershey Is there anyway to ascertain: 1- Who the seller was? 2- The asking price for the car 3- Whether it sold? 4 - If sold, the selling price? Thanks

Quite an Interesting German Made Buick Toy.
D Yaros replied to avgwarhawk's topic in Buick - Garages and Memorabilia
The fact that the underside reads: "Made in Germany Brit Zone" <== See pic speaks to when it was made. -
Per the NY Times the Buick will no longer ID their cars with Buick lettering. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/19/business/buick-sales-china.html?fbclid=IwAR2wZu8tBKTUjNp6seuRUskH2Mrc1JuiCrPZnS4blxEauHxDBQZnRIaUoes Nothing like being proud of your product! Guess GM failed to learn a damn thing from the demise of Oldsmobile and Pontiac?

OK. In my defense I did say "reminiscent".

The crest on the deck lid, to me, is reminiscent of Oldsmobile?

Aftermarket for Studebaker?
-
That has been common knowledge for some time. It is a TV show for entertainment, and have been successful in convincing viewers it is real. Did you ever wonder how come the camera man just happens to be in both places when exactly when the phone rings? Well, the statement that Danielle of Pickers is not an employee, but a hired actress, has bugged me for a while. Today I did more investigation re: this assertion. I thought, "if she is an actress she should have stage/screen credits?" So lets check that out. I went to the Internet Movie Database. What I came up with is a single credit for producing a documentary in 2016. ==> https://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Danielle Colby Cushman &ref_=nv_sr_sm What I did learn is that she was a roller derby team member and owner. She also is a burlesque dancer. ==> http://www.kiwireport.com/picked-life-danielle-colby Evidently what she is not is a hired actress.

My statement may have been a bit more accurate if I had said 1960s era Starfires -
-
In the years prior to 1966 the Starfire was nothing more than a "gussied up" 88. Assuming that to be the case, an 88 back seat should give you a factory fit. Yes, it will need Starfire coverings. As someone else has already point out, you best bet for original material is SMS Fabrics.

Pontiac?
-
Now that the show has aired, it would be interesting and enlightening to get a first-hand report on how the visit by the pickers came about (how did they learn about the seller). how the visit went, was the filming "after-the fact" and staged for t.v., etc. Buick_daughter, carre to enlighten us? trimacar: Where is it "documented that Danielle has her own shop and doesn't really work for them, she's an actress playing a part?" First I have heard of that being so. Interesting and would like to refer to the source for more info.

1993 Allante how expensive to keep? Reliable? Northstar?
D Yaros replied to StylishOne's topic in Allanté
I owned a 1992 Allante. There is nothing wrong with the conv top; except that it is manually operated! Any/all purported problems with the '93 North* engine have been resolved by 2019. I found the biggest problem to be the cheap, plastic interior hardware/fittings If the sound system is not working at present it could be expensive to repair. Never had any computer problems. The cars are going for bargain prices, but beware one gets what the pay for so, going cheap is usually -NOT- a good deal in the long run! -
