  1. Stude8, I checked today. The number is: 157444-2, a couple inches back are another groupe of numbers (?) 1.4.22 The dots are actually in the middle-not at the bottom as shown. So, what do these numbers represent? Thanks, Bob
  2. The serial # of the engine it came off wouldn't help you much, since it was a 1936 Pierce eight. I recently replaced this head with a repro aluminum one-original to the car. So, it's an 8 cylinder head from a 1929 Stude, President. Next time I'm out to the garage, I'll check for a casting number. Bob

  13. Jeff, F.Y.I. Or, should it be stated, "Buyer Beware?" Pierce-Arrow Society records indicate that, this coupe is: Body No. 438-C-15, Chassis No. 2215226. There isn't an engine # given. Anyway, with this serial/chassis number, it came out of the factory as an 8 clyinder powered car. Twelve cylinder models were given serial numbers: 313----. With either engine, it's one heck of a machine. I know, I own three of them. Bob
  14. I seen the ad on "Prewarcars.com," yesterday. They're not in New York; but in, Hesperia, Ca. Looking at the pictures, I'd say these cars are priced, at least, three times of what they're actually worth. Complete '36 engine, with aluminum heads, carbs, air cleaners, linkages (many of which), and a V-12 radiator--$15,000.00 to $20,000.00. Then the cost of rebuilding all of this? Bob

    ID car in picture?

Most bodies remained the same during the 1934-35 period. However the industry, on the most part, switched over from the three quarter fender skirted fenders to the full skirted design. Looks to me to be a 1935; but, not Oldsmobile.
  16. While digging into the history of my 1936 Pierce-Arrow (V-12) sedan, the Pierce-Arrow Society records show a Leon T. Buker of St. Ingoes, Maryland owned this car back in the early 1960's. The records state this car was pulled out of a tobacco barn in Maryland. Mr Buker sold the car to a party in Ohio in 1966. Leon passed away a few years ago, his wife told me she wasn't married to him at the time (she being his second wife) and didn't know of this car. My question is: Mr. Buker was quite active in this "Old Car Hobby" of ours, having restored a few cars and even "building" a "Dream Car" out of 20 plus other cars. This, I have a couple photos of. Anyway, does anyone out there remember him? Buddies (?), that might have helped him bring my Pierce (BARN FIND) home and back to life? I know this is a long shot, to say the least; but, well worth the effort. Thanks, Bob Sands Buffalo, New York (716) 826-2416 E-mail: muzandali@yahoo.com

  18. Hello, I too have bought a car from the "Pollard" collection--through a relative (Jim Dillion). Having restored this Pierce-Arrow and, I mean every inch of it, I can say that Mr. Pollard's name, or initials, were never on this car--anywhere! At a AACA Meet in Michigan, less thaan 15 years ago, there was a EMF there and sure enough, the owner showed me Barney"s imprinted initials. Bob Sands
