The FB group is a great idea.  Unfortunately my acceptance to this group has been pending for 2 days.  Not sure why it has to be a restricted group anyway.

I applied last evening and this morning I was a member.  Not sure what was up with yours, maybe try again?

The fact this building survives is incredible ! and restored too. Just reading /seeing this now and have o hank whomever was the power behind the preservation and restoration of the building. To many incredible buildings are demolished for no reason besides being " modern". Yes, I am active in my village as a preservationist/appointed historian and wrote the law for the Architectural Review Board I started 25+ years ago. Recall the popular phrase "tree hugger" from some decades ago? well I am a car and building hugger.

The building was slated for demolition before a few people said that the building needed saved, and so began the restoration of the building.  I started helping about 15 years ago and we work every Tuesday night.  Labor of love.

  3. I am wondering what these headlights are worth, and to verify that they are 1931 Hudson.  They are both complete(with the exception of the screw and clip on one at the bottom), but the on has damage to the chrome trim ring at the bottom and on the left side near the lens.  I am planning on bringing them to Hershey and will be in space GBC 7-8.

Looking for a fair price to sell them.

  4. The wife and I went to a local car show on Saturday with the Farm O Road.  The weather was threatening rain all day, had a brief light rain about 1 pm, but overall a nice day.  Only 21 cars showed up, but we had a good time answering questions about the FOR.  Came home with the Ladies Choice trophy 🏆!  Fourth year in a row getting a specialty trophy at this show, different car each year.

When we got home I decided to install the license plate bracket and Crosley National Meet Award plate on the 1951 Crosley Wagon.PXL_20230909_162647580.jpg.3e7aa20252aeae07047d24491a6e8998.jpg

  5. I am thinking about bringing a Bell housing for a 1948 Chrysler product 6 cyl. with the Fluid drive transmission.  I had to buy the whole bellhousing, top and bottom to get just the bottom section that I needed.  If anyone has a need for it I can bring it along.  Let me know.

Also have some 41-48 Lincoln, Zepher stuff that I might bring?????  Any interest?

  6. The wife and I had some fun on Sunday with the Farm O Road and the grandson and daughter.  We went to the Western PA Region car show in Latrobe.  It was a beautiful day and I told my daughter to have the grandson dressed in his favorite outfit (ok, grandpa"s favorite outfit for him). He got his first time in the driver's seat and loved it!  He is 3 week old and already a car guy!  Farm O Road was in the AACA Senior class and received a ribbon.

OK, did you change the chain and guides for the distribution.

The original top guides break and come between the sprocket and chain and make a lot of damage to the engine.

I just got the car a year ago, I will have to check into it.  Thanks

The Jaguar is back together with the exception of the header panel as I need to get new screws for the ones I had to drill out.  All in all not a hard job but labor intense and lots of cleaning as I went, as I didn't want to grind the black rubber/plastic into the interior.

There is the pile of hoses that were removed.  As you can see, the hoses are mostly white now but originally they were covered in the black rubber/plastic substance.

  8. After work today I worked some on the Jagu-junque, finished putting the lines to the front latch and started fishing the lines for the two cylinders, two lines each.  Tight quarters and hard to get to places, but all the lines are in and connected.  Started putting the rear quarter trim back in and cleaning up all the black rubber/plastic that crumbled off the lines.  I probably got a quart of that stuff...

Now tomorrow I hope to get fluid in ($50 a quart) and cycle the system a few times before I put the rest of it back together.

  9. Last evening I started fishing the new hoses for the front latch on the Jagu-junque.  Not too hard but the humidity was 87 percent and I was sweating like crazy.  I got the 2 hoses fished up the windshield post and fished under the carpet and over to the spot where it goes up over the rear wheel well and stopped there as I couldn't get the old hoses out.  A job for this weekend.  Hopefully the humidity will drop some as it is tough working with sweat running in my eyes!  😂

  10. Yesterday I bit the bullet and ordered all the hydraulic hoses for the Jagu-junque, to the tune of $600.00.  They are to be here on Thursday and maybe this weekend I can begin replacing them.  I still have a lot to rip out but I have decided to wait till I get the new hoses to fish them out and the new ones in so I know where they go.  While I was removing the two front ones I noticed that the ones for the cylinders were in no better shape so I am getting all 6 hoses.  Do it right or don't do it, especially when the hydraulic fluid is $40.00 a quart!  The fun of a Jag!

  11. On Saturday our car club, the Kiski Valley Region had it's annual car cruise at the Dairy Queen.  We have been doing this cruise for almost 30 years.  We take a picture of each car that registers, this year in front of the Dairy Queen, and we have wooden plaques with a metal dash plaque that we put the printed pictures in behind a piece of plexiglass.  At the end of the cruise we pass them out to each owner.  Has been a very successful cruise for our club.

This year we had over 62 vehicles.

  12. Yesterday and today I put some time in working on the Jagu-junque.  😂.  Started off taking the windshield header panel apart Sunday morning and ran into problems right away.  The T30 screws wouldn't budge on the panel that holds the latch assembly.  With some hard blows with a hammer I was able to get about 1/2 of them out, but four would not move and the torque heads stripped out.  End of work for Sunday.

Tonight after work I drilled out the four torque heads and got the remaining threads out with no problems!  I found the problem with the hoses, the black plastic outer cover deteriorated and the hose in the crimped fitting let loose.  I then continued to remove the hoses, down the windshield post, under the carpet and then I stopped because I didn't bring my torque sockets home from work to remove the drivers seat.  So I removed the rear seat bottom and back and the upholstery in the trunk.

Next chance I get I will remove the drivers seat and the rear quarter trim and hopefully be able to fish the hoses out!

Then I have to order the new hoses and fluid.
