  1. I ended up with a Weiland Dual Quad intake for my '63 Starfire. The only problem, the Weiland intake does not have the water crossover housing on it (thus, no receptacle for the thermostat housing). I have been told that I can simply get a good machine shop guy to cut the water crossover portion of an original Oldsmobile intake off and use it. However, I've also found out that Offenhauser used to make just the water crossover housing (which it sold separately from it's manifolds). Does anyone know where I could my hands on one? Thanks.
  2. I have the high compression 394 in my Starfire, and I wonder how much horsepower the slim jim transmission can handle? I have a cam for it, a dual quad carb intake, an HEI distributor, and am having the heads ported and polished. My estimation is that this will all land me somewhere in the vicinity of 420-430 horsepower when said and done. Is the slim jim up to the task?
  3. Glenn, my slim jim transmission is strong - not in need of rebuild. I putting a 3/4 race came in my 394, as well as an offenhauser dual quad intake, solid lifters, and having the heads polished/ported. My fear is that the slim jim will not perform as well with the additional horsepower and that's why I was thing TH400 transmission. Perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps the slim jim is just the ticket?
  4. I have a 1963 Oldsmobile Starfire with the "Slim Jim" transmission. I am trying to figure out if anyone knows whether a 400 Turbo-Hydramatic will bolt onto that engine without any problems. Thanks.
  5. Thanks. I can only detect three shifts in the car. I left it in low and drove it until it reached 15-18 miles an hour and never detected a shift so I assumed it was/is a three speed.
  6. I am putting solid lifters and a 3/4 race cam in my 394 - does anyone know where I can find adjustable rocker arms? Thanks.
  7. Did all Starfire's come with a 4-speek automatic transmission? Or was that simply an option for that model?
  8. It's a '61. But I am selling it. So no need for the letters. Thanks.
  9. I am selling my 1961 Oldsmobile Dynamic. Information (including picutres of the car) are located on ebay at the following address: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1961-Olds...1QQcmdZViewItem If interested you can email me through ebay or directly at awrhawkins@yahoo.com. The car will sell by tomorrow (Monday the 16) at noon. I have had a lot of feedback through ebay.
  10. I need to find the letters (which spell Oldsmobile) and fit in the grill itself on my Dynamic. Any pointers on where to find them? Thanks
  11. Thanks for the information. However, I just purchased an Offenhauser intake for the 394 from Offyparts.com. It should work very nicely.
  12. Drivewire.com sells the Edelbrock intake manifold 7111 for the Oldsmobile 394 engine. Has anyone tried to put this intake on their 394? With or without success? Thanks. My email is awrhawkins@yahoo.com
  13. I have a 1961 Dynamic with a 2 bl. I want to add a 4 bl. Where can I get an intake manifold that will take a 4 bl carb? All help appreciated.
